While I do agree ... there are some things people are not considering. In extra time, for example, it's still going to be a field goal shoot out. Much like the final 10 minutes of a game when the scores are locked up. The final minutes of a game when the teams are tied is somewhat of a 'lottery' anyway - because you can always jag a field goal. Remember that Tigers Vs Roosters finals game a few years back when Braith Anasta pulled a field goal out his arse to take it to extra time, and then SKD run away against the the play to score in golden point? Just arsey foot ball under pressure ... but that's all you can expect when clock pressure is on. Another way of saying this is that a point can be 'golden' whether it's the 75th minutes or the 83rd.
Also it's pretty hard for a team to kick a field go on you if you're up their end of the field. Dur. Hunt dropped the ball from the kick off and anyone can kick it from there. The execution of field goals is by and large a matter of arse, but the battle for yardage to get down the field is not. This should suit a coach like Bennett who is all about simple, disciplined footy. If the Broncs had have had some ball in extra time I can see Milford dancing around some tired footballers, running 50 meters and passing to Oaks for a great try. It's golden point after all - you don't have to kick a field goal.
