Fone Zone Canberra Raiders halfback Brad Drew has today been cleared of a fractured sternum, after leaving the field with a chest injury during the Raiders 30-20 trial victory over Melbourne at Wagga Wagga on Saturday.
Drew was forced from the field after being struck in the chest by the elbow of a Melbourne attacker whilst attempting a tackle mid-way through the first half of the match.
CT scans taken today have given Drew the all clear, meaning that the nuggety half will not face extended time on the sidelines, as initially feared.
Drew is free to resume light training tomorrow, but will be held out of contact sessions for the remainder of the week.
"CT results show that Brad has not suffered any fracture, and we'll need to look at treating him symptomatically over the next couple of weeks," explained Club doctor Ian Murphy.
"If he is feeling comfortable to return to full contact training over the next week or so, he could be available to play in the opening competition round," he added.
Adam Mogg also received good news today, with the NRL not charging the centre after a reported high tackle during Saturday's trial.
