Hollywood is about making money not being original with its ideas. Franchises are known commodities, so people know what they're getting without having to do much of their own research. That's the way it is.

Huge fan of the original film, and even made the trek to Astoria in Oregon so I could visit the Goonies house and a few other film locations back in 2009.

I'd love to see a sequel, ideally with the original actors reprising their roles rather than an unnecessary reboot featuring all new kids.

Old actors get a cameo role at the very best. There's no way they make this film without using young fresh faces. It's either a reboot, or it's going to involve in some way the "kids" of the original Goonies on their own adventures.

This was my favourite movie as a kid, interesting to see what they do with this.

My wife's favourite too. I hope they do a decent job with remake / sequel whatever. I'd like to see the original stars featuring prominently because it was them that made the original so good. The story itself was about as simple as they come.

Depending on your musical taste check out So Long Astoria by the Ataris, some pretty cool goonies references in that song.

Ain’t it Cool News did some digging and heard that the film is indeed going forward with Donner, Steven Spielberg, and Chris Columbus producing. They’re looking for a director and writer. The plot will apparently center around the original Goonies’ kids with cameos from the original cast.

Like I said. Old cast will bring in the older generation, but new and young stars will be the ones who carry the film.

Sequel could be interesting if done right. I wonder if they'll actually have an octopus this time (that line at the end always confused me). Plus more BOOBY TWAPS!!!!!

I think it's been enough years since I last saw Goonies (about three I think!), should dust off the DVD again for viewing number 1225463. Or even better, I should get the old VHS from my parents place taped from TV with ads from the mid-90s and watch THAT again!!! Love rewatching old ads, so nostalgic!

Photo looks at least 10 years old judging by the way Brolin looks.

Pretty sure that was taken back when they got together to do the audio commentary for the DVD. That DVD was released in 2004 I think so you are probably bang on the money.

Goonies 2 rumours happen every year so I will beleive when I se it.

This.
I have heard so many times that this is happening so I won't believe it until I hear that cameras are rolling. Not even if it has been green-lit by the studio.
