I noticed on Gould's twitter feed from a day ago he mentions 'couple of announcements this week, couple more next week, interesting times ahead' in relation a question posed by someone about Panthers contracts. Should be interesting?
mansour and segs have had contracts waiting to be signed for a month let's hope they sign and tamou says no

You would have to assume that Tamou has cold feet about leaving the Cowboys so my money is on him staying in Nth Qld.

Pursuing another hooker, we if we are/do then surely that would mean Segeyaro will be playing elsewhere next season given we have ZDC, Katoa and Soni Luke all signed for at least next season?

Mansour obviously is a resign but as posted by Ashton I agree we could do with acquiring an outside back with real pace. Speed out wide is something we are clearly lacking.

You Panthers supporters are easy markers. Penrith's onfield results have been about the same since Gus joined. Gus came on board in May 2011 so I would count 2012 onwards as the post-Gus era and 2011 and before as the pre-Gus era

Panthers finish at the end of Rd 26

2015 11th
2014 4th
2013 10th
2012 15th

So one good year in the post-Gus era. So far this season the Panthers are mid table

2011 12th
2010 2nd
2009 11th
2008 12th

The 4 seasons of the pre-Gus era look the same as the post-Gus era with one good season and 3 poor ones. The team is going average so far this season. Surprised people are not calling for a new direction

Gould is an asset to any club. He might be an arrogant twat at times, but his understanding of the game at both a football operations and business level is probably unmatched.

I wish he'd step in and fix the f**king mess at Wests.

I think Pascoe is doing a great job at the Tigers so far, memberships up so far despite having an average season, ownership finally settled etc. But it might take a couple years to fix up the mess there. Agree Phil Gould would be terrific tho

You need to look a bit deeper than that sorry.

When Gould came in the club was an absolute mess , it's a fair point that our on field results haven't been where we'd like but the club is much more stable now.

We're re-signing guys at reasonable rates rather than overpaying , we're in the market for genuine top line talent for the first time in our history.

We could go knee jerk and throw the baby out etc , but this is about building long term.

We are a good half from genuinely competing regularly for a top 4 position.

I don't for a second agree with everything Gus has done , however overall the direction of the club has never been better. Results will come I'm confident.

Also 2012/2013 we had guys like Ciraldo and Newton running around...those two years were necessary to fix the cap. 2014 was first year we could compete as we were able to sign quality players.

2015 was just a clusterf**k due to injuries.

In 2008 - 2011 we had plenty of rep and origin players and did nothing with them. Along with the fact that our junior development was hampered due to mismanagement and our junior systems ended up in a terrible state by the end of Elliot's regime.

What Prop have we signed on 3m? (By the way, that weird thing at the end of my question is a question mark, learn how they work dipshit)

Credit where credit is due, he's finally come to grips with capitalization. Considering his brainpower, we might just have to accept punctuation is a bridge too far.

If Gus can't even use Twitter properly I'd be worried about him running my club

Parramatta Eels' 'deliberate system of cheating'

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg reveals the findings of the investigation into the salary cap scandal at the Parramatta Eels.

Five Parramatta Eels officials who took the NRL to court after their registrations were suspended following alleged salary cap rorting have lost their bid to have the suspensions declared invalid.

Eels directors Steven Sharp, Tom Issa, Peter Serrao as well as chief executive John Boulous and general manager of football Daniel Anderson have until tomorrow to show cause why they shouldn't be permanently deregistered following a breach notice served on May 3.

The club has until Friday to answer the 64-page breach notice. The NRL has said sanctions available to it include docking competition points and a $1 million fine.

The so-called "gang of five" challenged their interim suspension on the basis that the NRL was obliged, as a matter of procedural fairness and natural justice, to give them notice of the suspension and the opportunity to be heard.

But Justice James Stevenson rejected that argument and found the NRL's rules did not oblige the governing body to afford the officials such an opportunity.

Following an investigation into alleged salary cap breaches that had been going on "for some time", NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg decided the five men had broken the NRL rules and were not fit and proper to remain registered club officials.

He notified the men of their suspension in writing three hours before holding a media conference. The notice gave them five business says to show cause why their registration should not be cancelled. That deadline was eventually extended to just over a month.

The plaintiff's barrister Arthur Moses SC argued the men had been, in effect, subjected to a "public flogging" and the loss of their registration would result in serious consequences for their "livelihoods and reputations".

But in a written judgment Justice Stevenson said: "On the proper construction of the rules, the plaintiffs did not have any right to be heard before the NRL made the suspension statement or issued the notices.
"The notices are valid".

After receiving their responses to the show cause notices, Mr Greenberg is empowered under the NRL rules to issue a caution, commence breach proceedings, suspend registration for a period of time or cancel their registrations.

The men can challenge Mr Greenberg's decision by appealing to the NRL Appeals Committee.
On Tuesday the NRL told the court it would be seeking costs.
