For years the Academy title has been dominated by the likes of Saints, Leeds & Wigan however look at this years table below.

It is as wide open as it has ever been with at least six teams capable of winning it and a stack of talent cropping up everywhere.
Cannot wait for the top of the table clash this thrusday night between rivals Cas Tigers and Wakey where two stars of the future will go head to head in Ryan Brierley v Cain Southernwood.

Good to see, except for Quins being without a win.

Which age group is this?

It's an under 18 comp but the teams are mainly 16's & 17yo's.
I wouldn't worry too much about the Quins as they also have plenty of under 16's in the team and one of them played for England this year - a half back named Mikey Bishay.
Also have a skilful 5/8 in Dan Sarginson.
Rob Thomas & Jamie O'Callaghan are both still eligible for Academy footy but don't feature at that level.

Wakey won the top of the table clash convincingly 42-20.

Shame Cas' Ryan Brierley was injured training with the first team which didn't allow the big one on one clash with Cain Southernwood who starred in the game and has now been promoted to the Wakey 19 man squad for tomorrows game v Cas.

Yep, it's true but i think they are going to allow three overage players in each team next year.

Yeah there is. A few overage players allowed, and the RFL are bringing in 'dual-registrations' so overage players can play for Championship clubs. I don't really like the idea to be honest, but there have been problems with the intensity of the reserve competition since it launched.

i do like the idea, but i can understand how some english fans, particuarly fans of lower division clubs might be hesitant of getting fringe super league players every week. i think its a must if there is no promotion and relegation.

Cool. I've seen both play on loan at Skolars this year. O'Cal looks ready to play regularly for Quins. Thomas played well considering his age and the fact he is a forward. Good signs!
