Greg Alexanders comments on Parras halfs

Greg Alexander said that Parras biggest problem is there halfs which we all know but he also said that Micheal Witt is not up to the job and will not cut it in the NRL he also said that Thorman was basically no good.

I really respect Alexanders comments as he knows what he is talking about as he was one of the great halfs and he knows what is required to be a good half, he really doesn't rate Witt at all. I am of the same opinion as well, Witt just does not have the game that a good halfback must have.

To all the people who are pinning there hopes on Witt think again, at best I think he will be a is a 5/8.

I personally believe that Brian Smith may banking on Tim SMith coming on next year. We will soon see.

I disagree with his comment on Witt.

Smith's not much different to Michael Witt, but has more ball skills than Witt. Witt on the other hand has what it takes, he's a halfback, has a lot of potential. But, Ive said it before and I'll say it again, if he was coached right or plays behind a decent pack of forwards, he'd be a very good halfback. Gary Freeman even said it on NRL on Fox, Witt should play in his normal position, and let him take control. It worked against Newcastle and it worked against the Roosters. also needs another playmaker beside him, eg. Morris, Dykes, Smith. Wagon is not a 5/8, when is BS ever gonna realise that.

I dont think Armitt went all that Badly. He always got good yards when he took it up. Surely Armitt is better than Pearson.

Gary Freeman is a 24 carat goose - take his opinion with a grain of salt.

Brandy was one of the best halves around (just stuck behind some of the other best halves ever, thus less rep footy)....his opinion is always of value.

Don't blame whether Witty is good or not on Brian Smith...Witty has an exellent tutor to coach him at Parramatta in Jason Taylor, there is more than one person involved in the coaching at every NRL club....if Witty can't learn his trade from JT then he's definitely lacking something.

Best thing Parra can do is hold onto Dykes and wait for Witt or Smith to become the Apprentice!

Thorman, This is a tough one,...... YOUR FIRED!

the funniest thing is watching him take off at kick offs, he is so slow so he has to get at least a couple of metres head starts of the rest of the team to be up in the defensive line when they meet the attacking team

Brian should of realised that Pearson didnt add size only calouries to our foward pack!

He does run on the spot eh!....the legs just don't carry the body too well any more.

It was funny on the weekend - at one of our kick offs he took off early as you said and the ref yells out "don't get offside corey"...but there was no chance - by the time the kicker struck the ball he was still a metre back and the rest of the team was leaving him for dead

corey looks as he's running with high heels on....As for Witt, I agree with someone who said that the young guys just lets the old guys get in the way instead of telling them to bugga off.

e.g. Corey or Wagon might yell for the ball but really it should be witt who should be yelling for the ball and telling the other's to bugga off. Just like you see all the time when someone gets into dummy half and the hooker tells them to bugga off!

I remember a game when wagon was playing like a back rower and hitting the ball up hard. Why doesn't he do this with every play he gets instead of propping, shaping to pass, run 2 metres (or less) and then gets tackled. #-o #-o

I think Witt can be a good half - if he is being taught about that position why not play him there?

I respect Brandy's opinion, but I think Witt ius our best option, after all he did in hte Chooks game, we could not have won that game without him.

But WTF is going on.

Since then he has been omitted then dropped. Now he has been omitted from PL. When he playes PL he plays at 5/8.

How the hell can he learn his trade with all this stuffing around.

There is something going on with Witt IMO, and I wish the Eels officials would speak up and tell us whats going on, after all they work for us.

Without the fans, they don't have a job.

Twizzle,

He put up a few Bombs against the Roosters and we got lucky. Id like to see Witt actually set up a try by passing the ball, but he can't because he has not got the skills.

Three bombs which resulted in tries, is more than luck IMO.

I could accept it if it was one, or even two.

I'm not bothered how he sets them up, three a week will do me.

If I recall, he also madew a line break in that game and ran about 20 metres, but had no back up.

I hear what your saying Jake, he's not the best, but IMO he's the best that we have got.

He must be very angry at the moment and that has to be hurtng him.

PJ didnt play that much half in first grade....starting and going for the full 80.

I remember PJ Marsh abosutley dominating on reggies, week after week demanding to be called up. I've seen Witt go well, but he has never dominated matches like PJ.

It used to be great, rocking up watching the PJ/McGuire combo run around!
