Griffin's tactics are rubbish

Hate to be that guy , but if there's one decision of Gould's I would question it's the appointment of Griffin.

When we enter the oppositions territory we look inept , just hoping for a defensive mistake. There's simply no decent set plays , it's one side of the field to the other.

Yes , yes young side , heard the reasoning before. But it's not coincidence Griffin was also known for problems in attack at the Broncos.

Sharks were missing 5 in form origin players and we looked inept.

Yes I know we were missing 5 guys too , but there's a big difference between missing 5 current origin players and our 5 , only which 2 could be considered in form (Mansour and Moylan) but even then I don't think Moylan is in form.

It was the perfect opportunity to give Brennan a go - familiar with the club, familiar with all the young players coming through, history of success at each level he coached at...

But no, Gould had to go out and get his little favorite. And here we are.

I agree that we are clueless in attack, but let's be fair, we were having this exact same discussion when Cleary was in charge.

Griffin is worse than Cleary. The only thing Griffin is better than Cleary is on discipline. Apart from that he is shit. Lousy team selections and even lousier game plans.

There is no game plan.........Gould has a lot to answer for appointing Griffin.

22 million dollar academy and we are going backwards.

At the start of this year we were able to be within a few points of the best team in the comp.

In the last few games, after cutting adrift some quality first graders, we get beaten by teams that really we should be beating easily. All this is at the hands of Griffin. Is this a rebuilding stage ( we have already endured 5 years of "rebuilding" ) ? Will next year have our team flushed with young players ready to take the competition by the scruff of the neck? Or will we continue to be the aimless, clueless rabble that we watched today?

I don't think you can gut the team mid year and think that player moral won't be damaged. We were playing shit at the beginning of the season, but were committed to the contest, now we look like we don't care.

We lost a number of close games earlier in the season. Those tight losses against the good sides were really just papering over the cracks. In a number of threads I said we were due for a pasting. We miss 30+ tackles per game on average and we rarely concede less than 20 points (probably have only done so 3 times this year).

Our attack is impotent and in the past 4 weeks our performance have been apathetic at best, even though we jagged a couple of wins. We need a half who can create and do so regularly. No matter how much they cost us. Otherwise we will have to settle for mediocrity long term.

Oh and we need a new coach. Sack Griffin now and give Brennan a go. Or better yet - get Gould involved in coaching and mentoring the coaches.

EDIT: just read Brennan gone to ESL.

Yep Griffin is shit, no attack, no defence wtf is this merkin doing
Hes ripping the squad apart.

Soward gone
Segeyaro gone
Taylor gone
Peachey on the outer

He plays guys put of position happily yet refuses to try players in positions which could nenefit the player and club longterm.

We need Peachey trying to adapt to hooker (small stints from bench)
We need Moylan making the step to half
We keep Edwards in the team and have he or DWZ at fullback.

We cant wait for TMM to be fit and then regain match fitness to move Cartwright from the halves. We need it now. Although Peachey will probably be next inline.

Peachey will be back next game.

What would you do with blokes who don't turn up at training? Just say don't do it again? The club has to maintain its standards, even if it reduces our chances of winning a game.

DWZ at fullback.
I think he should thank his lucky stars if he is in the team at all.

I do agree with you that we need to be looking at alternatives to Wallace at hooker, even if its just to cover injury.

Dwz made more metres and less errors then the rest of our backline:

15 runs for 132m gained
2 tackle breaks
1 offload
0 errors
6 tackles / 3 missed

The tackle stats are shit. But they are about average for one of our fullbacks. Zac had 3 tackles and 2 misses. Although the stats seem flawed for this game since they have Will Smith missing no tackles and he was carved up all game. His reads were so bad he didn't even get to attempt a tackle to miss it on several occasions.

DWZ has been getting lazy in defence. But just about every single player in the team has aswell. Opening rounds the soft defence was pretty much Hiku, Soward and Cartwright. Smith when in the team also. But it has spread through the team as the season goes on. We just don't seem to give a shit.

Why are you guys only working this out now? Griffin is a fraud and has been for ages. Keep in mind his reputation comes from riding the coattails of Lockyer having an indian summer.

Get rid, you will be flat out making the finals, let alone winning anything, while he is in charge.

I can't argue with Peachey being dropped. Anyway Griffin isn't going to learn how to coach in the next six months so I'd say we are pretty f**ked next season. When a team starts putting in gutless efforts like that back to back something is wrong
