I've been playing guitar for about a year and a half, and am looking to convert to electric.
Does anyone know the best place to get one from (probably looking at getting one second hand), what price, what brand you'd recommend, also, help with amps and stuff?

If youre not looking to spend heaps of cash, id probably recommend a Fender Squire for a beginner.

You'd join pretty much every other beginner guitarer on the planet if you went down that path. My first was an Ibanex GRX 20 I think, a cheap thing, but good enough for what I wanted it for.

Thats because they are very good, and reasonably priced guitars. So what if a few other people have one. Id rather be playing a well made, good sounding guitar that a few other people have, than something else, not as good, just because no one has one. Theres prob a reason no one has one.

My first electric was Cort (it looks like a fender strat) which cost me $140 second hand. Ive had it about 6 years now and it still does the job. Also, if your looking to buy an amp, DON'T buy second-hand, they'll usually have heaps of fuzz and circutry problems.

I saw at Miranda guitar factory a combo.. Fender squire and little squire amp for udner $300.
If it tunes up easily ...go for it.
I have Fenders.
I tried all those heavy bloody gibson things and just found the Fender strat comfortable and easy to play in comparison.
SG Gibson are expensive but a lot lighter than the les paul.

It all depends on the type of music you want to play. The above pack would be great for a beginner who wants to play standard popular rock tunes.
