but yeah, shouldn’t complain, both countries have used their isolation to do well, hope all you people in Straya are coping ok atm

im doing better than many tbh. My work continues as normal but if I lived a km further west I’d be stuck at home not allowed to go to work because I’d be confined to that local council area by the lockdown rules. Just hoping we don’t get an increase in numbers in my area that sees me unable to work too.

Was that announced today? I'm no closer to a vaccine than I was a month or so ago and I work on the 'frontline'. Our medical centre always says 'we're supposed to be getting it but come back and see us in a couple of weeks'. I go every week for an update and the staff are getting more and more curt with that same response.

Yup, they’ve dramatically tightened the rules today.
re vaccines there’s a two month wait for Pfizer shots here now. The only way to get a shot quickly if you’re under 60 is to get your doctor to authorise you to get AstraZeneca But even getting in to see a gp is probably gonna get hard now unless they agree to do a Telehealth consult for you.

On Nine now.
Declined Bulldogs as bubble was opening up in magic round, went over a couple of times.
Bubble closed, harder to do.
Talk of it going on for a while.
Apparently Dogs said on this approach (to be general manager) said no issue with him working with Warriors on development/pathway issue (doubt this happens, lip service, would be a major conflict of interest).
Apparently everything in place, needs for NRL to invest in grass roots over there.

Covid f**ked us again.

Any blow up in NZ about the slow vaccine roll-out in NZ like in Aussie?
The slow vaccine roll-out blow up will only really happen if we get a big outbreak or when the rest of the world is open and we are a hermit kingdom. Should be a blow up going on now as 5 month or wait to get a MIQ spot for returning kiwis, which is just shit.

I have big concerns if this club is going to even exist in the near future. Mark Robinson's money and the support financially of the NRL won't last forever. If we can't get back to playing at home next year then it could be the end.

As for the Vaccine rollout & NZ Govt in general. It's been nothing short of disgusting. My wife is a Type1 diabetic. Still haven't had any communication whatsoever. The best thing that could happen to us is the bombing of the Beehive with the full Labour caucus inside!
Mate , take your wife and turn up at your nearest covid vaccine clinic at about 2pm- dont call, just turn up. get on a waitlist or she might even get the jab that day. Most days as closing time approaches most clinics will have excess vaccines they need to use as they can’t go back into the deep freeze chiller

The politics behind the scenes in NSW is Hubs first (so states don't look bad) Dr second (because they have to be top of any health chain), pharmacist third to get any supply of vaccine. It's a supply issue, we backed something we could make locally(AZ) we ordered enough Pfizer but our friends in US blocked/slowed exports of Pfizer for a while, gov officials (negotiation team) playing bullshit games with big companies as well over intellectual property etc apparently.

The lack of covid in both countries slowed urgency. Reports of 1 in 100000 events blown out by media (more likely to die in car crash on way to vaccine) creating vaccine hesitancy, signs well known now (easy brusing, cracking peristant headache, extreme stomach pain, shortness of breath) treatment protocols now developed if you don't ignore symptoms. I just don't like the 12 week interval for best immune response.
Both countries still miles in front of others related to deaths, but media had to beat up on something (slow vaccine roll-out)

In Aussie use the Covid Vac Eligibility website lots more places on the list than 3 weeks ago when I booked.

17th August my 1st Pfizer shot.
From my understanding will get it before my 87 year old Grandma in Matamata NZ.

David Seymour making some noise about the rollout, but the Teflon govt barely get touched by the media over here, great reward for throwing mountains of cash their way
The tide definitely turning in the general public though if you have a look at what happened throughout the country today
Has to look up what happened. Nothing worse than getting stuck behind a tractor!!!
Current changes will force my parents off their small farm in next 12-18 months due to cost to comply. Only large farms can cover costs.

Are any of you warriors fans worried about the DWZ big money contract that got taken over a month ago from the dogs. While Gus was at the warriors.

4 weeks later Gus joins the Bulldogs with one of the key roles is putting the salary cap back in shape for the dogs. Might be a coincidence but i hope for the warriors sake that the Gus had nothing to do with that deal.

Ridiculous that your grandmother hasn't been vaccinated

The media has essentially been bought by the Govt, as beaver alludes to, so little in the way of serious questioning here, but some have taken chances to call out BS https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/po...-the-vaccination-rollout-is-not-going-to-plan

If their land or part of it is designated as a significant natural area they might run into problems :(

hadn't joined those dots, but intriguing and a concern... wasn't a fan of the DWZ signing anyway, hopefully the $$ are sensible

This is a weird thread, it's less about Gus and more about Covid management. 😀

As someone with friends in the US, the UK, and continental Europe I'm glad I live down here even if things aren't perfect. The hard lockdown/closed border countries were always going to be lower down the queue in the vaccine acquiring stakes.

I don't think personal international travel is a right, and it's only due to our socio-economic privileges that many of us can travel anyway (I had a flight booked to NZ the day lockdown kicked in so it's not like I never want to travel). So I really have little issue with the borders being closed until then. It's not like we're completely shut off in Oz/NZ

On vaccinations in NZ, I assume a lot comes down to the DHB. My family in Hawkes Bay are mostly all vaccinated. The older ones were front of the queue and had them done in the early days of the roll out, and my sister rocked up at 5pm to the centre one day while walking her dog and got it done.

On to Gus, he was yet another overhyped "the Warriors are doing good things" media soundbite that hasn't paned out which is to be expected. No substance as per usual.

On the conspiracy, how long before the Dogs make Walsh an offer he can’t refuse?

Yep, the hotline actually told me that… their system is hopeless and I couldn’t rebook my slot despite tines being available, he said just turn up. So stupid, I didn’t, so rebooked several weeks in the future,

The farmers' protest? I think you might be overestimating the level of support they garnered from that. It was very divisive and has been met with a lot of criticism from what I've seen in my travels online.

I don’t know, they got a big portion of votes from that sector of NZ, partly trying to stomp out the greens, they won’t be seeing that. And when you see the public reaction to the mongrel mob funding when Mike King can’t get a cent for youth suicide you can start to see the worm turn

Mike King is an idiot and they botched their funding application. They only have themselves to blame. The mongrel mob initiative is completely separate and i don't see any merit in conflating the two schemes.

I have some concerns about the mongrel mob thing for sure, but broadly speaking i support the idea of trying different ways of tackling the meth epidemic (I'm sceptical about this programme's chances but nothing else is working).
