Harold Matthews and SG Balls Draws 2007

Does anyone have any idea whether these draws have been officially released?

I saw a thread on it previously, but am yet to get official confirmation from the NSWRL.

If anyone would be able to help, that'd be greatly appreciated.

They were the draft draws I believe. Clubs then make submissions on the draw (e.g. they may not be able to have ground hire on a certain weekend) and then the amended draw comes out afterwards. It is usually put on the website straight away.

You should count yourself lucky. The PL draft draw only came out yesterday.

The 2007 New South Wales Rugby League Harold Matthews (Under 16's) and SG Ball (Under 18's) competitions will kick off on Saturday February 24 involving 16 teams from Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and Canberra.

Newcomers, Western Sydney, will take on one of the oldest teams in the competition, Balmain, in the first round of the competition at Leichhardt Oval, whilst last year's SG Ball and Harold Matthew's premiers, Penrith, will travel up the F3 to take on Newcastle.

The season will go for nine rounds before the finals series kicks off on April 28.

Western Sydney is an Academy side comprised of Penrith and Parramatta players.

It gives Penrith a pretty big advantage in the Finals. Penrith won both comps last year, but weren't minor premiers in either.

St Mary's is a good venue, it is available and it is probably a lot cheaper than usiong NRL grounds. All good reasons for the NSWRL to use it.

If another club/ground wants to bid to host the finals and they can put together as good a proposal, the NSEWRL should consider it. Though I don't think that many are putting their hand up for that honour.

Looking at the draw though Penrith have been ripped off pretty badly though. They don't get a home game until Round 5. Although the Bears don't get one until Round 6. For a team not to get at least one home game in the first 3-4 rounds is poor planning (unless there are specific reasons but I've been told that is not the case for the Panthers), especially for the teams who won the comp.
