Has Andrew Johns stuffed our plans?

With Johns (very likely) going to the Waratah's I think Newcastle might end up getting Orford & Morrison.

We are still chasing Orford very hard but I think the lure of the North Coast (close to his family) will be too much for us to compete with. Orford would probably be willing to sign a long term deal with Newcastle as well. It's all speculation but I think Orford seems the logical replacement for Barge Ar$e. I just hope Glenn Morrison doesn't follow him there because the Knights could be really cashed up with Johns, Kennedy, Tahu and others (Parsons & O'Davis) leaving. I was really hoping we'd get Orford and/or Morrison but now i'm not so confident :?

yeah! very good point, great minds think alike

I have no doubt with all the players mentioned there is a possability they may have up to 1.5mill to spend.

A bloke did ring 2KY this morning and said the Orford deal is a done deal to us with Parra releasing a prominant player.

Got a text message from a friend who confirmed Riddell to us and Dykes gone for next year.

Again! we'll see what happens.

I'll back you up on that same message as I have had it confirmed from a few people that Dykes will be back at the Sharks next year as he is good friends with Raper......

Yeah it's the worst kept secret in town that DYKES is on his way out (mutual agreement) and guess where he's rumoured to be going?..................the Sharks

No! I think you'll find it's Dykes.

Spot on. We need a 7 badly. Even our best 7 isn't really a 7 (Dykes) and it seems he's all but gone next year anyway. We really wanted to talk to Head but he re-signed with Saints. We missed the boat with Firman and we've just about offered Orford the whole league's club but he might be snatched up at the death by Newcastle :? Could leave us in a bit of a predicament for next year.

Kusto?

If the CC bid isn't successful then Orford could be with us for alot longer than 1 year.

Really, the CC bid is only a 25% chance of going ahead. It's 50/50 whether the NRL even decide to include a 16th team at all, and then it's 50/50 again whether they decide that it should be the CC or the GC. Playing percentages usually works and in this case it's 75/25 in our favour. I still think Newcastle will be the front runners to get him anyway.

If we signed him for next year with options for two more years provided the Central Coast are not admitted it would work favourably.......

The other MAJOR advantage of getting someone like Orford to the club is the benefit it could have on our young promising halves Witt & Smith.

Look at what Fittler & Johns have done for Finch & K.Gidley. Those 2 guys would not be half the players they are today if they hadn't of served their apprenticeships under the guidance of Fittler & Johns. Now I know Orford is not exactly in the same class as Johns & Fittler (yet) but there is no question he is one of the best halves running around and at 26 is only going to get even better.

Tim Smith everyone? He's a very good young half who we should be trying out hardest to keep, forget Orford for a year, we should be signing Smith to a deal for a few years, for a tenth of the price as well. Dykes leaving wouldn't do much i'm sure, as we would still have to pay a large part of his salary, i can't see the Sharks paying him 350k, we may as well keep him that way we at least get his services for the price.

Andrew Johns will not join Rugby- it's all a massive beat up.

Hmm....could be a bit of truth in that.

Speculation was that Johns would join the Roosters, in order to take over from Fittler.
Roosters have just signed Firman, closing the door on Johns.

ARU are not that keen on the Waratahs signing Johns, as it will piss off those players that come through the Union ranks.

Anyone notice that crap like this always comes out around Origin time.
The first this came to light was on Origin Eve.

Oh well. If it is true it is true. I think Union would certainly get their money worth buying Johns. Not just on the Footy field but through the gate and on the screen.

I'd like to see Johns play union - see how he goes - he's done it all in league - I like seeing the league converts show the unionies a thing or 2.
