I think Hayne can play centre as well as anyone if not better. He showed that before he left for his flight of fancy dream in the NFL. The difference this year is his lack of fitness and interest since coming back.
On his fitness, I noticed watching him play in the World Cup, he seems to be thinner, no gut an therefore he is making more ground and backing up. That is a great start to getting back to somewhere close to the old Jarryd.
Time will tell how focused and fit he gets. If he can get that fitness back in his legs, where he first thinks RUN, then anything can happen and need I say he can then be agile enough to play centre, without making a goose of himself this time around.
A fully focused and game fit Hayne, is the best player in the world bar none. People have short memories and or have an axe to grind. I have neither, my only reservation in regards to Hayne is whether HE wants it bad enough to put in the extreme physical and mental exertion that it would take for him to get there again.
The jury is out on that, but I would be more then willing to have him back as long as it doesn't cost us one of our halves or any of our better players to do so and of course at the right price for a player that you are taking a massive punt on. The punt is not only on his playing abilities but on the potential disruption of the entire playing group. Anything is possible when it come to the chosen one.
Period!
