Sports stars that have been responsible for some of the most hideous misdemeanours are regularly welcomed back into the fold if they are good enough. In fact, if they come back and do great things on the field it isn't long before they are celebrated as 'heroes' again.

I understand the point about reputation and accept that it is an issue. But is it really a big issue?

Without knowing the specifics of the case I won’t comment on the guilt or innocence of either party. However, when you’re talking about an income that also includes third party sponsorships, being an accused rapist would likely have a monumental impact to reputation and potential earning capacity.
