I am most definitely in the minority in that my wife and I waited til marriage and therefore I am legally bound to throw stones at Hayne......but I won't......since I was never a good looking athlete with millions of dollars and woman all around me.

And while I was being a smart arse, this is kind of the point I was getting at. There are far more people than just Jarryd Hayne who identify as devout Christians, yet are out at the clubs picking up every weekend. I went to Oakhill College so I can rattle off about a hundred of my classmates who were exactly like that just for starters.

But you merkins wouldn't know them.

Don't tell anyone, but I'd say 90% of men sitting in the pews on Sunday morning will have a porn addiction. Well maybe not addiction but regular users. Heck we all saw that when Haynes phone got tapped apparently

Ffs baz, school kids at a catholic school is hardly a f**kin example of devout christians ... most the people who went to oakhill did so cos it was the cheap alternative to public school in the area. Half the people i knew who went there didnt give 2 f**king hoots about christianity

I grew up in the bible belt too and a f**kload of people i knew were in the god squad, hell i was for a period, and there was most definitely alot of no rooting mentality .... but that was a while ago .... so i am asking a legit question about when this mentality changed

A reputation for being egocentric? (Which may or may not be true.) A lazy trainer? A lazy player? A guy who left one club to 'follow a dream' (and for f*ck sake, what else could you call it?) then came back to that club (as he said he would) only to be offered what he and/or his manager saw as a stupidly low offer. Then he signed a contract too good to refuse, on the spur of the moment, with another club. He has now decided to come back to his original club and signed a contract (for only one year - so the onus is on him to perform) for what seems to be a vastly reduced amount of money. Wow! What a horrible reputation to have. Yeah, a rape allegation wouldn't mean much after that. Mate, I think you've been listening to Bartman and the media too much.
Sure mate. Let’s run with that.

Well obviously not everyone was a devout Christian FFS...cos I'm not...So what's your point?

Mine is that a lot of people who claimed to be pretty devout, attended church every weekend, got involved with Hillsong, did fking prayer groups and church charity and such, were also out at the Tavern or Epping RSL on the weekends trolling for one night stands.

Just because they are religious doesn't mean they follow the bits of it that aren't fun.

I think Hillsong in particular has an attitude of once you have accepted the big man live life to the full get filthy rich, hang with hot women etc because all your success is a sign of gods approval, he really digs you. Others will see this and join up. Its like a trapezoid.

Im not making a point, im asking a f**king question .... i saw alot of legit anti sex religos in my day, and yes i am sure there were plenty of pretenders too ... asking if the no sex thing has just totally gone out the door now?

Well I'd have assumed it was answered when I said "when did they stop rooting around?", mate. and then further when I pointed out that plenty of folks claiming to be devout Christians still root around. And then even further when a Christian who HAS followed that particular bit of advice said he was in the minority...

It didn't need to go out the door because it's never really been fully in the door in the first place

I believe it is still frowned upon, but every merkin does it and doesn't talk about it.

I think there was definitely a time when if you got caught rooting around you would be shunned by every merkin. Then it transitioned to just being shunned by most merkins. Then just shunned by a few oldies plus the reformed sex worker who runs the creche.

Well yeah...if you got caught.

Is it harder or easier to get caught now? I think the main difference is that more people are doing it so fewer care.

I wouldn't say it's easier to get caught, I'd say it's more obvious when people are doing it, so fewer people care because it's more open. There's no sneaking around after dark in the parlour room and there's less of a care factor amongst the older generations.

Which bit of the bible actually tells us not to go rooting before marriage? I know the bit about being obliged to commit adultery and blaming it on the devil, but where does the bible say that two unmarried people can't give each other a good seeing to? I'll bet it doesn't even say that in Leviticus.

I think it's in one of the lesser known books. "Letters to the Editor of the Times of Nazareth", maybe?

 I also went to oakhill. Finished in 99, you? There was a small group of God squadders that loved Hillsong in my year.
