Thats the problem with paying $1.2M for a fullback. The only way you can get value out of him is if he overcalls the halves which then throws out the balance of the team

Well he's Henry's worry now, i don't think Arthur wanted him back at all.

The 800k was just a token offer.

I listened to the game in the car. The merkins on Triple M hypothesized after Bevan's third try that BA did not go hard on Hayne because he had Bevan. There was a pregnant pause in the commentary and you got the impression that they all agreed with BA.

Unless Hayne is a 80%+ Gk, we don't need him. Sorry Puddin.

Nope

The current squad has done an amazing job and we are in a position to not only retain but build on it. Hayne would force guys like Gutho, Mau, Semi out the door.
Exactly this.

I don't think we need him anymore.

Let me pose a scenario to you guys:

Over the off season Hayne realises he has made a massive mistake and asks the Titans for a release. Would you take him back at our original offer? Let's assume its $800K.
No. Greedy Hayne can f**k off.

He is simply not 2009 or even 2014 capable anymore - not fit, and not motivated to be fit in return for his megabucks.

As I posted it at the time, I don't believe it was ever The Plane's intention to be on the Gold Coast for more than 5-9 weeks
Do you reckon he just did it for some quick cash, and will throw it in during the off-season and try and go to European rugby?

Even if he's lost his speed he's still a million dollar player. Even if he has to play in the second row. The problem is the ego seems out of control compared to when he left.

His ego was always a problem...

But how can he seriously still "be" a million dollar player when he is now playing far worse than when he walked out on us? Hayne wouldn't last 15 mins in the second row, more tackling than he usually attempts in three matches!

His ego is the same, we just won't put up with it that now he's not scoring points for us...
I dunno. Comparing himself to Jesus was a bit further than he ever went when with us. And the 'This is my house' thing. Not saying he's too far gone but the publicity of late has definitely gone to his head.

He's only 5 games back in two years. The talent is obviously still there. Whether the physical ability has diminished is yet to be seen.

If "the greatest Australian Athlete" as he's been called can't get match fit in 5 weeks he doesn't deserve to play in the NRL.

There's no excuse for it. He's had more than enough time to get up to speed.
He looks like an NRL player to me. What rung will be better determined next year.

No, I actually don't think he thought it threw that hard...but I'm guessing his intention was to just play for a team that could make the Top 8 this season, but the only way the NRL would allow him to play was to sign a multiple year deal. I said at the time of his signing, he had no intentions of really seeing out the deal. Nothing would surprise me where The Plane lands in 2017...

The Tits are shedding players, so i hope for their sake that Puddin does not do a runner. Gee first DCE then Hayne, poor Tits supporters.

All these players were told they weren't required well before The Plane arrived, so if he buggers off I'd say they'd revert back to whatever the plan was 6 weeks ago.
