Massive call, a lot of hard work that may not pay off, but good on him for chasing a dream. Good luck to him.

Guys, just to let you know, I have decided to pursue my passion of playing for an American Football team.

You will see me next year playing for Baltimore Charm in the Lingerie Football League. Wish me luck.

He's too old to learn intricacies of the game imo, you can just chuck a guy in at RB and expect him to be able to read blocks, read defenses, and be able to absorb and learn a play book when he's never played a down

Maybe WR, he has fluid hips but he's never run a route before, and he's going to be such a raw route runner, that even if he is athletically gifted, he's not more gifted than most corners, even 3rd or 4th string, any corner worth their salt will be able to read his hips, read his movements and stick with him and make plays on the ball.

He could make it as a kick return specialist, but no NFL team rosters KR/PR Specialists unless they offer you something else. He is athletically special, so he'd be signed by a team but he would need to spend 12 months, probably 24 on a practise squad learning the game. So he's going to be 28 before he can even make a roster IMO.

This is a bad idea. If he was going to do it, he should have done it 5 years ago

Ill be following with interest though

Good luck to him.

He will make it over there. He has the talent, the brains, and the ego.

For Reggie Bush to come out and say he’s basically a walk on to any NFL team is a MASSIVE statement. Im sure he will have a helping hand also in getting some doors open.

If he fails then he can always get some of the NRL's special money for luring superstars back to our code.

And if he succeeds then we can all celebrate his successes. He's leaving as the best back in the game

Too late in his career to try this
It isn't too late at all. AFL players have gone over in their 30s and some have had longterm careers.
!!!

He'll be back in the NRL by kickoff of 2016 at the absolute latest. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him return sometime this season.

This will be over very quickly. He won't make the final cut for any team in the NFL. Period. Sig it. Call me on it every day for the rest of my life.
If he has been practicing a kicking career is not out of the question. If he has been rational then you would think he has only made the call to go over because he has been making NFL standard punts in practice.
He's physically gifted, but that means shit all. So many talented athletes in the NFL that fizzle out because they just don't have the knowledge and the skill set.

I don't see why Hayne is any different. He'll be back.

You can kick a ball and do nothing else and be paid more than the highest paid player in any Australian sport. And you can do that until you're 40 or even more. So if he is interested in money there is more money and more years in an NFL career.

Hayne didn't join the NFL to be a kicker.....
