HD Channels

We just bought a new HD TV that can view all the channels of Free To Air (Go, GEM, 7mate etc).. ive noticed that some TV's can pick up a HD version of Channel 10 and view it in better quality; why is it that my TV can't do the same? and would this be an antenna issue?

Im pretty sure there is no HD version of Channel 10. Their HD channel is being used for ONEHD.

i have a digital version of channell 10 on digital 5 - but it's not HD.

ye thats true, but aren't there channels like "Ten HD" which you can view
channel 10 in high definition quality?

Before ONE HD came in, it was possible to view TEN HD (or SC10 HD depending on where you are).

Before 7mate came in, it was possible to view 7 HD (or PRIME HD)

Before GEM came in, it was possible to view 9 HD (or WIN HD, or NBN HD)

Now, none of that is possible because of the aforementioned channels.

The networks in Australia have done HD so, so wrong.

Expect a new digital channel for 10 next year. 12. The Simspsons and all other comedies that 10 airs (Rules of Engagment, Modern family etc...) will ALL be moved to this channel meaning that people without a digital tv or STB won't be seeing the Simpsons anymore! 30% of this new channel will be owned by Fox!

The current bandwidth limitations meant that we could either have less channels but more of them in HD or more channels but less of them in HD.

In 2012/13/14?? when they switch off the old analog TV network, more BW will be freed up to allow the HD channels to return

Isn't One SD currently channel 11?

Another Q, why would it be partly owned by CBS and then move the Simpsons (fox show) to it? It's like watching Home and Away on Channel 9 :lol:

Exactly this. Which is why for a time there was some diabolical picture quality on ABC2 for a while when they were broadcasting ABC1, 2, 3, and HD.

Agreed. The secondary channels have the HD but have mainly old or low budget programming. Which rarely are even widescreen let alone HD.

The main channels except for 1HD should be HD. idiots
