Now I am old and grey and my back is weak, but at the time we had Paul Bishop, son of Tommy running around then too. he was the No 7...

If you are interested I have dropped the clipping of the game to the Sharks4eva website and they have it up in lights....

Funny thing about that game, where I live in Emu Park, on the Coast of Central Qld. I, at the time run a little Coffee Shop. I had blue black and white streamers throughout the joint leading up to the midweek playoff and to the next weekend.

Funny thing was I didn't have a customer for a week. Might of had something to do with the ad I put in the local paper. Donkeys for sale. See Quigs.

Ahh the memories.... and yes me little chin wags, No 7 = Paul Bishop.

By the way viewers I still have the video of this classic game.....I watch it when life gets me down...

Too good Quigs! Good on you mate! :)

Yeah I've got that on video somewhere too. What a match.
Docking had the absolute game of his life that night.
Carved 'em up left right and centre.

Guy Picken-had a few blinders and then disappeared. I remember thinking he could have been anything.
My memory says to me he had shoulder problems but ended up on the dark side.(Dragquuens). Is that right?

That's right, Foz. After a real good season with Cronulla I was surprised to see he transferred to Saints the following year. I thought he could've gone places with us too.

Yeah it was Barry Russel. He loved to run off Millers passes.

Barry Russell injured his shoulder in 88, and it stuffed his career.

It's a shame his career was so short.

I wish we would could clone a few Barry Russell, I remember a bulldogs
game at shark park back in 88 he had a blinder.....
and people what Treister back.

Yeah I was at that game. Russell scored the winnning try from the scrum base from about 25m out, right on full time. I think the score was 18-10. Steve Mortimer was still playing fo the Dogs.

I was also at the game at the Wollongong Showground where Barry got injured. Some dickhead Steelers fan sitting next to me, was almost laughing about it. I remember ET having a try disallowed for a knock on, when the ball clearly came off his knees.

I've forgotten most of 1989, I was studying in Canberra, and didn't get to any games that year. I remember watching the shocker against the Gold Coast we lost 8-4 on the TV.

1988 was great year for the SHARKIES the only year I went to every home and away game.
It was the Miller, Hatch and Russell show......Russell yet injured played his
heart out in that semi final game against the Tigers..

Sheros that match which we lost to the Gold Coast, was the only time we lost, to them i remember watching it, they scored a try, from a kickoff, Chris Quinn, was playing fullback let the ball bounce from kick off it bounced dead, he thought we were playing the rule from 1988 and before when ball goes dead its 22metre tap, the rule had changed beginning of season, it was now goal line drop out, from the drop out GC scored in that set of 6, that caused up to go from 3rd to play off, and ruin our premership chance, i never forgave Chris Quinn, for that mistake, he should have known the rules

Thats the Sharks Sheros!
How many games can you find a defining moment like that.
Every time we were ever a chance you can go back to one major event like that.
The problem with the Sharks is they have to learn to have that moment beaten before the game.
