Just been talking to a young kid here who is interested in going to play in England this year. He's 18 and plays half back hooker has played for Auckland and NJC which is the National Juniors over here in New Zealand.
He was wondering if any clubs may be interested in setting him up in a job and playing league for there club would love to be up in the North of England. Any info on this would be a big help thanks.

Hi guys thanks so much for your reply will go and look through the sites no he doesn't have a manager and he's not expecting a club to set him up. He's going to the uk for a year or longer he was just interested to see if anyone was willing to give him a job so it would fit around training etc thanks again for your quick reply will let him know asap. Cheers will let you know the outcome :)

The north's pretty good and friendly - he could find work in the bigger cities like Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Hull if not elsewhere in a local city/town.

Perhaps a good "way in" might be with the clubs that have had other junior kiwiws/auckland players come and play? If you look through the squads on the clubs pages you might see some familiar kiwi names - might help a young lad settle in after making such a big move.

Workington would be a good bet IMO.They are coached by Ged Stokes, former New Zealand 'A' coach, and have quite a few New Zealanders playing for them already.

Tell your friend to write to Ged Stokes, Workington Town RLFC, Derwent Park, Workington, Cumbria, England, and I'm sure he will be able to assist in some way.

Ged is the head coach and on the playing staff we have Johnny Limmer, John Tuimaualuga, Lusi Sione and Taani Lavulavu plus Tane Manehera who has lived in Cumbria for about 10 years. It's worth the price of a stamp.
