Has there been even remotely another Aussie rock era similar in popularity since a guide to better living days? When you could walk into any party and hear Aussie bands all night straight like the grinners, gurge, eskimo joe, spiderbait, superjesus, gerling, silverchair, jebediah, powderfinger etc and then wake up hungover the next morning and hear new rock bands on Recovery after seeing what the guest hosts of rage liked. Homebake wasnt seen as just a festival of Aussie bands, but a kick ass day with a lineup that rivalled the big day out. When there were surrogate god fathers of the Aussie scene like Tex Perkins and Nick Cave and a switch on the stereo from Segression to Area 7 didnt make anyone bat an eyelid. When prisoner of society was turned on by someone every 5 minutes but you didnt complain because it was a really f**king good song. And people who werent big music buffs still knew who Frenzal was, went to their local shows and knew shit was about to get real hectic when the bass intro to punch in the face began.
