help with forgetten pw

Hi, I was wondering if it was still possible to retrieve the password my old account? I've had that account for a while now (I think since 05 or 04), previously I had my account set to 'remember my password on this computer' type of thing but I reformatted my comp so I lost the password. Can I still retrieve it?
