Not just Manly though. I hate when refs pick penalties out of their arse just to even up. Even though they've left the same offence go throughout the game.

It usually starts with too slow getting of the tackled player even though it's a second quicker than any other tackle in the game

Edit: dumbarse spelling

Yep. Checcin is a specialist of the "even up" run of penaltys.

Ooooh...team A up by 20 at half time....better give team B 6 penalties on the trot to "manage" the game.

These square up penalties happen every game. If its not naturally close the refs manufacture it. You gotta be real bad to get done by 30+ in today's game.

The square up seems to be a thing that's just crept into the game now, regardless of the referee. Checcin is the worst for it but they all do it to some extent.

Are refs not meant to be impartial on each and every decision ?

If we can see the obvious, why can't the NRL ?

I agree with this
The storm must get a special dispensation in the ruck.
They hold players down every single tackle
Yet when their opponent does it , it's suddenly a penalty.

Played Oztag against him.

When he can't control his temper whilst playing over 30s amateur sport (throwing the ball at peoples heads, inviting them to the carpark to punch on) you question whether he has the emotional intelligence for such a high pressure job.

Henry always looks like he has the worries of the world on his shoulder and ever call he make he is hesitant about. I rate him under the clown Klien, so that says something. He had his usual shocker yesterday, tried his guts out to keep the Chooks in the game in the second half

He hates the Warriors more than the kiwi commentators do.

The time he penalised James Gavet for "tackling too hard" was a sight to behold.

It's up there with Paul Plodkins sending off Wade McKinnon for kneeing a bloke in the head. Which, let's be clear, never even remotely happened.

Sean Hampstead was caught cheating on his police exams, never hurt his ability to remain an NRL referee. In fact it was probably seen as a plus.

He was in my cricket team for a couple of years. Seemed a nice enough guy. Handy right arm medium pace.

I used to play darts with him when he was with parra, once shanked a bloke in the neck for stepping over the line...

Bill Harrigan has openly said on Triple M that when he was in charge of the refs he said Perenara wouldn't make it to be an NRL standard ref. Seems he was proven right

Harrigan took over a tail spinning refereeing standard set under Finch and promptly flew it straight into a volcano, so I wouldn't put much weight in that f**kstick's opinion
