What is the most money a player has received in the UK for a testimonial season?
Could this system work in Australia?

I can't answer your question but testimonials are very rare in this day and age . They tend to be more prevalent in the NL divisions . I personally don't like the idea of them . The original idea was to reward the loyalty of a player ,or for aplayer who's career is ended prematurely, who wasn't paid much more than the average working man .This may have some significance in the lower divisions but the SL players are paid handsomely for doing something they love . After all no one gave me a year's wages for working for the same company for ten years .
