Hindy Anecdote

Whilst i hate to be a name dropper, i will relay to you an anecdote that will re-affirm our opinion of Hindy, and why he is such a great fella.

I was talking to him yesterday, as i do regularly (for those that must know why, he visits a lot of seriously ill children in hospital, and i was updating him on the condition of a child he visits quite regularly, in his own time).

Anyway, we were talking about Saturday nights game. I commiserated him on another close loss, and he repeated what we all seem to think, about how unlucky we were. etc etc. I then mentioned the Alex Chan hit, and how surprised i was to see him knocked around like that. He said to me, to my astonishment, that he actually knew it was Alex who hit him, and knowing his history and what a great bloke he is, he tried to spring straight back up to his feet, so as to NOT draw attention to the tackle. The problem is, he was stunned by the hit, and as you all saw, he staggered back to the ground. He was most disappointed that Alex was charged over the tackle.

This shows you the character of Nathan. A thorough gentleman, and a true sportsman.

As if i needed to tell you all this anyway.

A truly great sportmans

I was disappointed a former Eel did what Chan did. Ok, maybe he is trying to be tough against his old club but you dont do it that way.

Hindy is a legend and should be next Capt/coach and CEO!!

I have been a little disappointed with him lately.

But it is true - he is not only the Great One when it comes to football, but he is also a truly remarkable young man.

I truly respectand admire you, sir.

My son thinks he is the ducks guts. I have a picture of Hindy and myself at home and as he is only 18 mths the words don't come out quite right (he gets stuck on his H's and words ending in Y) but every time he looks at the photo its unmistakable who he talks about - 'Ind 'Ind 'Ind. :D

He's working on Parra too.....

He's a favourite in the Bell household too....so is Sideshow because of his mop.

Conor, my 3yo son, and his cousins (also eels) play footy all the time and they all have to be Hindmarsh. Whenever he is shown on TV all you hear is "GO HINDMARSH GO HINDMARSH"

Worrying thing is that he also supports the Warriors, Rabbits, Sharks, Knights, Raiders and, god help me, Broncos. If he keeps it up he will be eating through a straw for the rest of his days!!!!

In regard to the fact that he goes to visit sick kids in hospital in his free time....I think this is what separates Hindy from alot of other star footy players - he is down to earth and very selfless.....people like that are the true champions.

I know lots of footy players put in the effort to go and visit sick kids when their club arranges it - but guys like Hindy go th extra mile

And I'd also like to give Smith a wrap at this point....love him or hate him, he has had an influence on the young guys who have come through the ranks at Parra....our players are as good character-wise as there are going around and I believe plenty of that stems from the guidance of Smithy as they have grown from teenagers into men.....(no I am not talking about anything to do with footy here - so don't jump down my throat).

My home is definitely a Hindy home too. My 13 year old son, who goes by the moniker "Itchyeel" on the forums, has met Hindy a half a dozen times, and has not been able to mumble a word to him.

Ya got months, Colonel. At 2, I had taught my daqughter to say 'Go Parra" and 'Boo Manly'. I figured that 'Cheating bulldog scum' was a bit of a mouthful for her!

And thanks for the stury, Newmanj!

*SIGH* I knew I loved my boy for a reason. And even thought he regularly treats me like sh*t there is a heart under there... ;-)
