Hindy at 5/8 from scrums

I always like the ploy of having a forward run from 5/8th from an attacking scrum. However, Hindy for mine is not the man for that job. He lacks the acceleration and I was really surprised last night how Wesser and Preston had him covered.

Anyway, I reckon the man for that Forward 5/8th job should go to Widders, Vella off a long runup or even Fui Fui (if he ever plays in 1st grade for us again).

wesser and cambell just were able to move up VERY fast on hindy not giving him anytime to get started. i think against alot of other teams tho he wud be heaps damaging there, just has to run off the ball a lil more or get wider out

Nah, Definately Widders for the job, Maybe even Morrison next season.

I was thinking they should try Widders in that role as well. Especially when he comes off the bench in the later portion of the halves.

Put Riddell as 1st receiver from the scrum (Plonk Wagon in as hooker)

Hindmarsh and Widders running as receivers or as decoys.


Go wide to Tahu and Guru if the defence compresses.

Earlier in the year, we were using wingers... Kativerata and Petersen.

Just having a runner has no impact... they usually get stopped before they even reach where the ball is fed into the scrum.

I'd really prefer to have a 5/8 play the role of 5/8 in the scrum... someone who can run or pass, putting the defence in two minds, rather than just having a sitting duck running the ball, waiting to get hammered by the defence.
