FROM MACARTHUR CHRONICLE. TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2008.
Wests Tigers will be charged an extra $1180 for every game they play at Campbelltown Stadium and concerns have been raised by the council the ground is becoming a victim of its own success.
The Tigers will be charged $20,000 a game this year and will share use of the stadium with other clubs, including the Macarthur Rams and rugby league's Jim Beam Cup teams.
Campbelltown Council general manager Paul Tosi said improvements to the ground had made the stadium an attractive alternative for many sporting clubs.
"Our concern is of overuse, if anything," Mr Tosi said.
Campbelltown councillor Paul Lake said the council had been generous to the Tigers when considering the fee increase.
He said the council was investing close to $700,000 in television-standard lighting in the off-season would save the club up to $28,000 per game in lighting hire costs.
"We are charging them an extra $1180, which is a generous fee," Cr Lake said.
"We are saving them around $28,000, not bad money ..., money which stays in their coffers."
