I dont think you can call anyone the best player in the world because there are so many different styles of players in different positions. If i was going to pick the best centre in the world i would say Gasnier, Inglis and Hodges are the best 3 in no particular order. I think Webcke has been the best forward in the comp for a long time, maybe taken over this year but over the course of his career i put him #1 for all forwards in that time frame.

Hodges is powerful yes, but is too slow to be considered a better centre than Gasnier. Gasnier's footwork is magic.

Andrew Johns is slow but he's considered the greatest of all time.
Hodges may not be the as quick as Gasnier but he's twice as strong as him.

Of course he was. Hodges was huge in our success, it was really his move to fullback that sparked the reinvention of our attack in the back end of the season. Along with Lockyer, Berrigan and Civoniceva he was one of the main reasons we won the comp.

:lol: Can't blame him for that mate. The ball bounced about half a foot in from touch at a fairly acute angle.

Hodges is a great athlete but hardly a candidate for best in the world.

Excellent call Twopac. Hodges has been awesome this year. I read Wendall said he is playing the best football by any outside back in the last 5 years. He's been dominating all year. He outshone made Gasiner and all other outside backs look like ordinary in Origin and the finals.
