How did Wiki escape

WESTS Tigers yesterday demanded an explanation from NRL match reviewers over Ruben Wiki escaping any charge for a hit on fullback Shannon McDonnell.
A raised forearm by Penrith prop Matthew Cross and a shoulder charge by Warriors captain Wiki were the most talked-about incidents of the NRL's round 11.
But the only charges issued were contrary conduct against Bulldogs winger Matt Utai for fighting and a dangerous throw by Cronulla centre Beau Scott.
Utai faces a two-week ban, while Scott will escape suspension. "I'd ask for an explanation from the judiciary so I'll do that," said Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens, highly critical of the hit after Saturday's loss to the Warriors at Ericsson. "But I'm not going to comment on it publicly."
on a rib injury, suffered in another incident, today but will definitely not play against South Sydney on Sunday. Winger Daniel Fitzhenry (fractured collarbone) is out for four to six weeks.
Parramatta fullback Wade McKinnon needed plastic surgery at the weekend after colliding with Cross' arm as the big Panther went over for a try at CUA Stadium on Friday night.
But chief video reviewer Greg McCallum called the incident an accident. "His arm came up in, almost a defensive action," said McCallum. "He was hit from the side and his arm came up in the air to protect him from the impact of the player coming at him."
While the Eels complained on the field and afterwards about Cross, CEO Denis Fitzgerald said: "We accept the decision of the video review committee".
Of the Wiki hit, McCallum said: "We thought the contact was with the top of the chest and his arm was pinned against his own body.
"(McDonnell) hit his head . . . when he hit the ground."
Scott and Sharks captain Brett Kimmorley were involved in the lifting tackle on Bulldog Reni Maitua at Telstra Stadium on Sunday.
On Utai, the NRL said in a statement: "About 58 minutes into the match, Utai became involved in an altercation between two other players and threw a punch.
"This action was contrary to the true spirit of the game."
Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes yesterday cautioned back-rower Sonny Bill Williams over his fight with Cronulla utility Phil Bailey on Sunday.
"It's just an experience thing," Folkes told reporters. "He's got to learn that when you've got the ball, you keep your hands to yourself." Williams admitted: "I took it too far".
To be honest I didn't see too much wrong with the tackle. In fact I thought it was a good hit. He's a little guy he should get use to it!
