How do you tackle?

Just watching a game on Telly here in the UK and i was just wondering how you tackle a guy when he has the ball? Are there any special rules or can you just jump on him?

I managed to work most of the rules out, points, catches, bouncing the ball after running so far etc.

You cant tackle around the legs, that a trip.

And you cant touch thier back, or push them in the back.

Basically its needs to be a ball and all tackle from the front or side.

The game supports the player playing in front of his opponent.

Do you strip the ball away in the tackle? Then when its lose its fair game?

It does make a bit more sense now.

if the person tackled had prior opportunity to get rid of the ball then the tackler is awarded a free kick (holding the ball)

if no prior opportunity and the ball comes free, then yes, its fair game, play on. if the ball doesnt come loose, its a ball up.
