How good are the reds?

This is a serious question... ive heard a few reds fans lately talk about how there top of the table... and how there in the running this season.

I saw Greg Martin say something along the lines of its between them and the crusaders.

I dont think it is... i think the reds position is very deceiving... there the only side in the competition not to have played ANY nz sides.

and from what ive seen of them they would be destroyed home and away by the crusaders and possibly even the blues.

the same can be said about the stormers also... they haven't been out of SA yet.

thats the crap thing about this stupid conference system.

the stronger NZ teams are disadvantaged because they have to play each other twice where as the SA & AUS sides get 2 goes at there crap sides.

wheres the reds fans to defend the honor of your team...

Meh, people are saying that about the Broncos at the moment too. You can only beat what's in front of you.

There are no crap teams in NZ? Currently the Hurricanes, Highlanders and Chiefs all look a bit sh*t.

The Reds are playing great rugby. Sure, they haven't played any kiwi sides yet but they have beaten the previously unbeaten Stormers at home and just towelled up last year's champs. They have shown they can play tight and also loose when required. I am not pinning my hopes on any championship glory but they deserve to be at the top.

Currently the Crusaders are the form team. I can't see any team beating them in the form they are in now. I would have the Blues and Reds at about the same standard. They both play a similar type of footy.

WTF?? the Highlanders are probably one of the top sides in this competition.

The Crusaders, Blues, Reds, Stormers & Highlanders are the standouts... notice how 3 of them a kiwi teams.

and the Chiefs & Hurricans are still miles better than the crap sides from Australia and South Africa

I'm still not convinced the Highlanders can retain their good form. They haven't beaten anyone special apart from the Bulls who aren't up to much this season anyway.

I think the Blues are gonna give the comp a good shake. We haven't come close to peaking and yet we've only lost 1 game. We're only gonna get better imo.

Reds > everyone else, no other team comes close.

They stomped the crusaders at home last year and will do it again this year. 2011 = year of the reds.

They've lost 2 games. Have a PD of 10 and have only 2 bonus points. Don't get me wrong, they are my favourite kiwi side but they haven't beaten anyone special yet.

The Blues are the dark horses of this comp. I am thinking of putting some money on them. The Reds are an injury to Cooper away from collapsing.

The 2011 Crusaders team is one of the best super rugby teams I've ever seen, they've been almost unstoppable this season and this is minus the best player in world rugby (Richie McCaw). They have an awesome backline, an exciting young back 3, and 2 giant (and quick) centres. They have Dan Carter in the halves along with Ellis, and they have a pack full of all blacks. Their depth is outstanding also, any team that can field a bench that has Chris Jack, Ben Franks, and Matt Todd on it is doing well

Scary thing is carter has been out for a while and they've still been whipping everyone. Agree that they are one of the best ever super rugby teams

They certainly do look a step above the rest of the competition.

My ranking right now is:

1. Crusaders
2. Reds
3. Blues
4. Stormers

The Saffa teams always start slow and build. Discount them at your peril. The Waratahs seem flaky but could take a few big scalps as well. They have the players but not the motivation/

I think the Tahs are hard to judge atm, way too many injuries

if they continue with the injuries as they have atm they wont bother anyone

nahh... the Blues will take the Crusaders...

its gonna be a repeat of round 1...

Jarred Payne has to be the best Centre going around at the moment. his defence gives him a slight edge over Fruen.

No point in having a backline if they won't use it.

Reds scrum got away with murder on their own line time after time. But if the Tahs were too stupid to realise what was going on then they deserve what they got.

Is it so hard to play up the middle and slot a field goal at the end of the game. Apparently it is beyond the Tahs to even try for that play, let alone make it.

Based on that game, the Aussies will not have a team in the finals past the first round.

Who the hell was the waratahs number 14? I watched the game from start to finish and I swear the first time I saw him was in the 70th minute. Surely he wasn't on the whole game

its not just based on that game... it should be based on the whole season.

If the Reds are the best in Australia... Dingbat Deans will be shitting himself.

There gonna be in for a RUDE awakening when they finally play the NZ Sides.
