If every Club had someone with as much integrity as Brian Smith and Denis Fitzgerald, there would not be as much trouble in the NRL with off field behaviour as there is going on at present.
400 first grade games, and Fitzy 25 years as CEO... you don't last that long if you can't cut the mustard.
Fitzy is Parra through and through. Was when he played, still is today.
Who is the next longest serving CEO in the NRL.. Perhaps Shane Richardson with about ten years.? Still wet behind the ears...

PARRA FOR SURE IN 2004
(Smith 9 wins from his last 12 NRL games, Bennett, 3 from his last 12.. Parra 4 wins and one winning half in 2004 from 5 starts (3 trials 2NRL) the facts speak for themselves....It's gonna get better)

A lot of people would say that being around for that long makes him a dinosaur, but I think he is a pretty good CEO. Unfortunately football is one of those places where loyalty from fans can only last so long, and its certainly been pushed in the last few years. For both of their sakes, I hope we can win the big one soon.

Brian and Denis have earned the fans loyalty. For Parramatta supporters to boo Brian Smith when his face is displayed on the screen at games is as bloody disgrace, and an embarrassment to the game.

Garbage.

When the NRL was formed, Fitzy was running around trying to merge Parra with anything that moved, so as to collect the money the NRL were putting up for clubs to merge. So much for caring about Parra and 50 years of tradition.

This fiasco in the NSL where Fitzy is prepared to sell of the home ground advantage in a GRAND FINAL just because there is more money to be made.

Fitzy cares about making money first, Parra second.

Well considering that the Power have lost $10 million since they came in, I'm not surprised Fitzy would want to get some of that back by getting a 40,000 crowd as opposed to less than 10,000 if it was played here! Anyhow, the board reversed the decision and the game will be at Parra stadium now.

Extremely poor taste, I think for that moment for the first time ever, I was embarrassed to be a parra fan, Whatever anyone's thoughts on his coaching, IMHO no person trying to do their best for our club deserves to be treated like that, not Smith, not Kusto, not Carriage no one, it is just sinking to an all time low

Fitzy's JOB is to care about money. He is not responsible for tactics or strategy or winning games. He looks after the club's long term future off the field. Sponsorship, the stadium development, strategic alliances and so on. I think you could probably merge your remark into 'fitzy cares about making money for Parra'. I am not suggesting that he is some benevolent charity worker, but he is paid to run a business. Its foolish to suggest that he operate the club in any other way.

hahaha comon, it was just booing. it's not like he was getting beaten up or spat at

people boo the players when they do bad, so why not the coach? boo in the bad times, cheer in the good times. that's what supporting a team is all about for me

Parramatta did not have to merge to survive in the NRL, but Fitzy was dancing around, trying to merge Parra with Wests, Balmain, and even North Sydney, and would have happenned except the other clubs told him to get stuffed.

Unless we had to do it to ensure survival, there is no way that any merger should have been even contemplated for Parramatta, and yet, there was Fitzy, prepared to sell off 50 years of tradition.

Yes, Fitzy has to care about making money.
But there is a limit as to how far you will go to making that money.
Somehow, I'm not that devastated that I'm not following the Parramatta Tigers, I don't have to follow a team that wears black and gold with maybe an eel on it's sleeve and that my home games are not split between Parra Stadium and Leichardt.

Just because Parramatta won last year doesn't discard the fact that Brian Smith's tactics are not cutting the mustard.
Did I miss something??

Let's not forget it was Fitzy who stopped Parra going over to Super League, and thus it was Fitzy who saved the ARL from going bust (if Parra, Newcastle or Manly had have jumped it was all over Red Rover)

From what I have been told, the board was split right down the middle, and it was Fitzy's vote to stay with the ARL that cast Parra's fate, and the fate of Rugby League in Australia.

He is a damned fine adminstrator who knows how to make the dough. I'm just glad he has guys like Alan Overton around to stop him from going overboard.

You're right about the board being split on the super league decision HJ, he's made some questionable decisions and made some bad comments over the years, but that was one of his finer moments.

Still, its hard to forgive the guy who has suggested at various times we merge with several clubs, have our sport merge with union into a hybrid, and made bids for a soccer and rugby union club, one of which was a financial failure despite their success in the league and the other, thankfully, never got off the ground.

Well done Fitzy.

Will also turn a blind eye to the fact that ARL/Optus had put far more money on the table for Parra to stay than what Super League was offering. ARL threw more money because they knew that they had to hold Parra. Super League would have liked to have Parra, but we were not as critical because they had locked up Penrith to cover western Sydney.
