After his knee reconstruction he was never a dangerous backline player again. Lost his pace and confidence. I couldn't believe Newcastle bought him and put him in first grade. Comes across as a great bloke but I'm afraid these days he just falls apart with chronic injuries and makes Bruce Reid look like the Terminator.
Funny thing is that the Knights didn't buy him. RR retired and bought a pub up here in Newcastle. He had no intention of playing this year...
With Mark Hughs's problems and a few other injury issues, they approach him to see if he was interested to play for the Knights. He thought hard about it and agreed to. I doubt he is on anything but an incentive contract. That means he is hungry and ready to try his heart out. He has nothing to lose, but plenty to prove to himself. He is still relatively young enough to hang around for a few years if staying healthy also.
That bombed try aside, and what it ment to the Sharks and Supporters, I wish him all the best! If he fails, he already has every guys dream to go back to... His own pub!!
