With all these talks about buying these mad players....etc etc... do we have a solid figure of how much we can spend?

are we going to be cashed up like wests were last year who had around 2mil to spend? [-o<

it be nice to know first what were playing with b4 we start dreaming about tahu and orford etc

Definitely not 2 million.

It really depends alot on if we choose and/or are able to release a few players or not as well as which players we choose to re-sign that are coming off contract this year.

This is a list of players on our books who do not have a contract for next year with us (yet) so in theory their money could be used to sign other players if we choose not to re-sign them. I've ESTIMATED what their contracts might be worth in brackets:

Widders (125K)
Hopkins (125K)
Muspratt (100K)
Pearson (100K)
Peek (100K)
McKinnon (60K)
Prince (60K)
Kativerata (60K)
Langi (60K)
Kaufusi (60K)
Pai (60K)

Plus there is also Jamie Lyon's contract worth approx $250K - he may or may not be released???? Also, Dennis Fitzgerald said that we are operating a little under the cap this year so let's assume thats another $75K to spend.

TOTAL (not inlcuding a release for Lyon) = $985,000

TOTAL (including a release for Lyon) = $1.24 million

It's not a bad assesment Parraren, you could be on the money with some of those predictions, but I'd like to add that there may be a few players who are under contract for next year asked to go on the open market. such as Peterson, Dykes and Vella.

could be very interesting in Smithys office in the next few months, god I'd kill to be fly in the wall

1.25 mils a good amount...

i mean i like the idea of getting 2-3 quality players and from the looks of it morro has rejected a reduced offer from his current 300... start there..

hopefully all the negative publicity around parra wont drive potential buys away...

if parra can string some wins together in the next month b4 june 30... it will go a long way in swaying some players our way...doesnt matter if we screw up after that.. all the buys are usually done in the first few weeks ...

I know they're only estimates but I'm sure we have enough room to move to sign AT LEAST 2 - 3 high quality players come June 30 and possibly 3 - 4 if Lyon is granted a release.
