How much money is there left

Just curious as to how much money the Tiges have left to spare and if they could in fact afford to chase Orford or Johns (provided he becomes a free agent) the reason I ask this is the Tigers have the nucleus of a good side and a top quality playmaker I think could take them from fringe top 8 to fringe top 4. There is a lot of young talent there and some of there purchases are going great guns Brett Hodgson in particular. There forwards are very under rated also. I think they are a workman like side at the moment and could sneak 8th or maybe 7th spot but they could be a whole lot more with one of the above 2 I think.

I was with the Tiges boys the day the Ali Lauatiti thing hit the papers, they were all saying that we had the $ right now under the cap to get him.... If you add to that extra $ that are about to be freed up I'd say we're in a fairly decent position. With that said don't be surprised if the personnel we have now becomes world class.. Benji Marshall has all the makings of a great, we're only seeing glimpes of it now but give him a year or so... Scott Prince is getting back to where he was at the Cowboys and if he can have a good origin series I think he'll step up another level..

Yeah i dont see a need in going after a Johns or Orford, Marshall is a long term investment while Scott Prince is a more than capable half, Johns and Orford are both great players but i think there not the type of players we'll be after come june 30.

Neither Marshall or Prince are halfbacks - we may be playing prince there now but he is a 5/8th first and foremost and only really looks good when taking that role (which he normally slips into at some point during the games)

A quality halfback combined with a hard-head prop are the only purchases we REALLY need to make...and the good news is we do have enough room under the cap to grab both

half is not a problem they have prince/renyolds/marshall/kerr/branigan they need another half like they need another hooker

a BIG PROP please

on johns 450k is a lot of money for a guy to sit next to the coach all year

can anyone tell what a 5/8 does in the modern game umm (think about timmins)
then (think about walker for manly)

We definitely have money to buy players. We are well under the cap now,and will have more to spend next year.

I reckon about 600k.

Personally I think we should be looking for a dynamic backower and prop.....and there are a few cheapies.Ashton Sims and Frank Pritchard spring to mind. You could get them for 120 easy I reckon. That'd still leave about 350 for a mega star...re Orford or Johns.

I wouldnt go for them. But you wouldnt argue if A.Johns or M.Orford were in Tigers colours next year.

Cheers.

Offer Frank Pritchard 200k if we have to.He is a dynamic runner of the ball,a hard hitting defender and has the potential to be one of the best forwards in the game!
