How NRL Players should behave

Ive posted this in the Souths forum but I think that everyone should see it. This is the example that ALL NRL players should be trying to set.

Joe Williams has continued to impress on and off the field with his intelligent comments at the NRL rookie conference and it seems that he is one kid with his head screwed on.

I pinched this from the Hutch (www.rabbitohs.com/hutch) by the way

Hi Everyone, just wanted to tell you something that happened today which really changed my mind about current Souths players.
I was at Eastgardens this afternoon, i take my girls (when it is raining) to the indoor play area they have there, i also sneak in a coffee. Anyway i saw Joey with his GF and Little baby and i was going to go and say hello and let him know how good i thought he was, anyway i decided to leave him alone and let him have his peace with his family, i did show my girls (3 &5) who he was and we all yelled out "Go the Bunnies", I am not sure he heard us.
Well we were there for about an 1 1/2 hrs, and when we went to go home, i saw a note on my car, i thought you bastard someone has hit my car or something, Anyway i grab the note and sit in the car about to read the bad news, BUT! i recognise the signature as Joe Williams right away.
He had seen my car (Red mondeo with green racing stripes, and Souths stickers, and my own hand made Rabbit logo) and gone to his car gotten an envelope out which he received from the club, and wrote the following message "To loyal Bunnies Supporter, Go the Bunnies '05' Joey Williams".
Well i told my daughters that our hero of Souths had written to them to say thank you for supporting them, and they smilled and giggled and we all sang "Glory Glory to South Sydney".
It really made my day, to think that a Souths player went out of his way to let a supporter know how proud he is to be playing for the best supported football club in the NRL.
I am going to go out of my way and go and let Joe know what it meant to me as a fan. I will also email Shane Richardson and link this thread.

Whilst no one can say for certain, I am sure there are more stories like this one that do happen with NRL players (most professional athletes for that matter in Oz) that the public are not made aware of...simply, these stories don't sell magazines or papers.

Sure, the circle of friends/family hear about it, but the buck stops there in most cases. Seano had an outlet to share this story whereas others in the general public are not this inclined to post on a forum where the story will be spread.

Congratulations. I know from personal experience how good it feels to have your club doing you proud in all aspects and have also experienced the flip side when some of our players were disgraceful. Congratulations to the Bunnies, I have to say from reading that and my experience with Tigers young players that league has a positive future

What a good kid!!! Thats going out of his way to do something he never had to do or would even be expected to do, it says a lot about his character too, obviously a real genuine kind of guy, good on him!

And I bet so many more players do this type of thing, this is what should be reported in the papers.

Yeah he was like that last year with a few kids at the SCG before the Dragon and Souths game he went out back and kicked a ball around with a few youngsters in Souths jerseys. He is a very impressive young bloke.
