FRIDAY - 16th September 2005

Huddersfield have released back-row forward and captain Ben Roarty, who is still waiting for the all-clear to resume his career following a neck injury.

The 28-year-old former Melbourne and Penrith forward has not played since picking up the injury in June and now faces an uncertain future.

"I would have loved to have stayed and I would like to think that, if I hadn't got the injury, there would still have been a place for me here," he said.

"But, with a question mark still hanging over my fitness, it was always going to be difficult. I fully understand and respect the decision the club has made."

Does anyone know anything about this injury how long his been out?.

I'm pretty sure the last time he played was against the Bulls in the middle of June, I can't remember whether he was injured in the game or at training.

Thanks, Bart-dude, I had a look around, couldn't find anything, I was fairly certain that it wasn't during the Bulls game though.

No probs, I've got all the player roster stats on hand for updating stuff on the LU site so knew just exactly where to look. ;-)

Roarts is still to get the all clear from the specialist on if he can continue to play RL again.

I believe he has had a piece of bone or cartlidge removed from his neck and it has been replaced by a metal insert... as with knee constructions the injury should be as good as new (or as Roarty has quoted, stronger because the metal would have to break)... but he is awaiting the final all clear from the doctors.
