I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but . . .
In yesterday's Sunday Telegraph there was an article about how Humphries wants to secure the services of his super coach till at least 2012. It went on to say how WT would be crazy not to stitch up teflon for another few years, because soon all the other clubs will be chasing him.
What's even more mind-numbing is how Humphries says he wants the whole situation sorted out BEFORE the start of the season !!!.

I'd quote the article for you, but when I threw up my breakfast all over it, it became a little hard to read. Sorry.

Hopefully its just the old adage..... like when you hear "the board has full support of the coach" .....you know the coach is in trouble.

I will not support this club anymore if he signs for another 4 years especially if he doesn't get the team to top 4 this year. Other than that it's just another failure.

Oh well its hardly a surprise. Its not even worth getting angry or worked up about it anymore. The final nail was when the only CEO to make him accountability lasted about 2 weeks before being shown the door.

We are wasting our time getting worked up about it. He will be re-signed before the start of the season. All you can do is laugh really and support the team with blind faith.

At least this time they are only talking 2 year contract - we may make the finals in 2013 if our players aren't jack of him by then and leave enmasse.

Top 4? Get realistic. Top 8 is by no means a failure.

Funny thing is I reckon Sheens is a very decent coach. How you won the comp I'll never know, although it was great to watch, but this season (2010) is the first time he has had a good squad.

Judgement will be made in 2010.

I think people go a little over the top with Sheens. Yes he makes some bad decisions, yes he's stubborn, yes any number of things.

Still, in 2009 and especially in 2007 the players were responsible imo. Absolutely bombed it both years. Despite being brilliant players, Marshall & Farah really made some crucial errors in 2009 which cost us dearly.

They should sign him up for life even though it was a Stephen Bradbury effort in winning your one and only comp in 2005

TimmyB I agree with part of what you are saying - yes, in spite of all I do say, I do respect Sheens and I do think he is a nice person who has fostered a positive attitude at the club- but positive attitude is not the be all- there has to be success on the field- that is what Longmuir was on about when he was shotdown by Teflon and his acolytes.

One has to add a little rider that Sheens actions throughout the seasons in question by his team selections etc put the team into a situation where every game counted and no slips could be made.

Seems like an old boys club. The board looks after the coach. Sheens looks after his favourite players.

YOU get real, pal.

As a coach, If you can't get into the top 4 with having a playing roster of the likes of Tiquir, Tuiaki, Moltzen, Benji, Lawrence, Farah, Taumata, Galloway, Ellis..... then you're a complete and utter FAILURE....a looo-hooo-za.....as he has been for 5 years.

Go through some other sides and you will see some pretty good players as well. Just because you have a few good uns does not mean that you will finish in the top 4.
Make no mistake about it this is a very hard comp to win and lots of things come into play, rep sides, injuries, suspensions, personal lives, and general attitudes.

I think many people must consider one of Sheens best achievements has been keeping the club out of the bottom consistently. We have never had a shocking season under him. I think we are only one of 3 clubs to have never finished in the bottom 5 in since 2003, which is quite remarkable when you think about it. A stat some Balmain and Wests fans of the 1990's would point to alot i suppose. Even a poor year under Sheens and we still finish with 10-11 wins and in the mixer until the bitter end.

It's not really a view I go along with. I think its accepting mediocrity when we have a playing squad capable of better. However many fans and obviously the people that matter seem relatively content to have these competative seasons with an attractive brand of football. A few coin flips over the last few years go our way and we could of had 3 or 4 successful seasons.

No one could of matched Sheens efforts at WT over his first 4 seasons. However I think he has lost his way over the last 3 seasons in many departments. The thing I can't deal with is his stubborn attitude and his ego. We could have far worse coaches, but I don't believe he deserves another new deal, I think he should be a little embarrassed about it to be honest. Go out and do well in 2010 and earn it.

Anyway he seems to be part of the furniture here now, like Marshall, Farah and co. So it is probably best just to get on with it and accept it. I think some of his comments lately have made alot more sense. We seem to be finally applying momentum towards something that can be sustained. However then he goes out and signs Fitzhenry and plays him on the wing. One step forward, two back.

I see in the article it regards Teflons contract extension as 'imminent' and both Farah and Marshall welcome it.

Oh well, it just goes to show Teflon knows more about manipulation, shifting blame and accountability and talking up his achievements than the WT board and CEO know about asking questions on accountability and demanding results within that achievement.

I will always support WT but crissake they make it hard sometimes.

There is far more than coaching to getting the best squad out on the day, farah and benji are resigning priamrly because tim is the coach, Ellis and Lote have both said he was part of the decision for them to come....

He also is at a club that has not fully spent the cap for a number of years ( 500k under in 05)

In this day and age of corparate dollar, he has played a major part in the club not having a scandle that can ruin a club......ala sharks

Not many other coaches around have accomplished the above

Yes he has made mistakes in recruitment, but has changed his policy....

I really think 2010 we might see a new Tim Sheens. With depth in most positions he wiil be able to pick 17 players on form week in and week out. Maybe he will even uses all the players on his bench for decent amount of time and he might even pick players in the positions they are best at.
Than in a trial match two weeks out from the big one he selects Fitzy on the wing okay its only a trial buts its just about the last hit out before the comp starts.
I get the feeling we are going to see the same old Tim Sheens
