They can't possibly have thought this through?

He won't play for the Gold Coast for two years...

Any and all media benefit will be over well before the end of this year, let alone in two years when he finally gets a match.

HAAHAHAHAHAHAHA the only thing funnier than cutie playing AFL is watching all the dyed in the wool Pony fans turn on him at the drop of a dime. Paaaaaaathetic.

I think it's pretty funny to be honest.

It shows how confident the AFL is that their game just won't bring the punters in to the GC or Western Sydney.

I seriously expect that over the next month or so, a Sydney-based, reasonably high-profile NRL player will go to AFL as well.

Is Luke Covell off contract? LOL

Funniest league news ever. Thanks for that, cutie.

I think AFL is the only sport in the world (aside from the geniused Irish version) where if you are a good athlete - are fit and can run - you will get a game because the other skills can be easily learnt.

Mike Pike, the Canadian Rugby fella, is already getting games for the Swans after taking a year to pick up a sport he had probably never heard of before. And that's because he is fit and can run.

Inglis could play that game tomorrow and be one of its stars. That to me doesn't make it much of a sport.

AFL is a sport that is specifically made for cuties and it is run by the biggest cutie of them all in Demetriou. If Karmichael wanted to go to a sport where he would stand out, then he has made a massive error in judgement. He has gone from being the only cutie in league to one of many cuties in AFL.

I also look forward to seeing Hunt have to lose all that muscle mass in order to become, in comparison, a skinny marathon runner look-alike who'll have to spend 120 odd minutes doing nothing but chase a football across the backline.

Reeks of absolute desperation by the AFL.
They know there is very little support for their new team at the Gold Coast
So what do they do?
Sign up an NRL player at ma$$ive bucks to try and entice NRL fans to their new club.
Of course, it will fail.

I mean the number of NRL supporters who will up and support the new AFL team because of Hunt you could count on less than one finger.

What's the bet that if he fails to deliver he will be sacked for 'disciplinary reasons' just to try to throw the mud back on Rugby League

How can they honestly think that Brisbane or QLD fans will follow him over? He's basically confirmed the suspicions that formented back when he chose Australia over New Zealand. He's a turncoat of the highest order.

Makes a mockery of the fumble ball fans who have claimed for years that RL players have no skills....

It appears that cutie is going to walk into the top league after playing a hand full of games in the VFL....

Would any AFL player get offered any sort of contract to play League, even if they were desperate for a run?

I don't think any NRL club would offer a contract even if the AFL player was a super athlete.

The NRL's approach of getting them while they are young is much better and has a lower risk.

From Kangaroo tours and 4 straight Origin Series wins to the Southport Sharks AFL side.

Awesome.

I wonder if there are any top line AfL players who fancy a game for Wentworthville?

any one else think the tits are a shoe in for this years premiership? What better way to fight expansion than to stir up support through a premiership win (aided win that is).

It'd be nice if the Tits won next year, but it won't be aided.

Unlike the AFL premiers of 2001, 2, 3 & 5....

guys you forget he was nearly nabbed by the afl in 2004 before the broncos got him

Now why would you go ahead and let the truth get in the way of a good story? The way some are carrying on you'd think he'd never picked up a Sherrin before and never mind the fact that AFL scouts had their eye on him before he chose league.

I'm sure if it were the other way around and a fumbleballer defected to our game then the decision would be lauded from most around here and would be seen a a great coup for our game while being a massive kick in the guts to the AFL
