Superb news for Salford, they have always been a club held back by its surroundings rather than its people. Hopefully the passionate 3,000 or so will be joined by others at the posh new pad and the club will finally be able to take on the kind of stature the people behind it always deserved it to be.

I just hope it brings Super League another Hull and not another Huddersfield.

You beat me to it!
Great news for Salford and the game as a whole, I really hope the club can push on from here and re-assume their previous position as a successful, go-ahead club.

To be fair, this stadium will be a fair bit smaller than the Galpharm, and Salford will hopefully be fairly successful when going into the stadium, whereas Huddersfield were in the middle of probably the worst period in their history. It's all about timing and hopefully Salford will get this right.

I think the effect will be similar to that of Warrington's new stadium.

Good on 'em, and hope it helps cement their spot in the franchise future, and grow further as time moves on. They're on the up and the timing seems right.

Yep great news.

I like Salford. They have stated they want to be the biggest club in the world. Thats the kind of vision you need to be successful.

Great news for the Reds and SL, hopefully now they can hold on to guys like Jordan Turner and Stefan Ratchford who are getting tapped up by bigger clubs.

The new stadium is only a couple of miles up the road and, I'm not a local by any stretch, but I think it still lies within the City of Salford, as distinct from the city of manchester. The natives get very upset if you start saying they are from manchester, although to all intents and purposes the two cities do overlap.

No doubt that the willows puts people off going to watch the club, it is a vvpoor stadium in a 'troubled' area, so hopefully the move will be a big success. I hope so because I've always had a soft spot for Salford.

The fact that it holds 20,000 will give the stadium an advantage when trying to host other matches. I can see the NL1 Final, Challenge Cup Semi's, Mid year Tests and those sorts of matches heading to Salford. Coz at the moment, out of the new RL stadiums, there are a few that hold 12/13k, then a big gap, then a few more that hold 25k. so it'll be great to have one in between
