I hate Deuce 7 :@

Was playing APL freeroll, started with 7 tables, was about 2 left. I have 10K (started with 2.5k), i get AJ suited (hearts.) Blinds were a thousand (i was big), this dude with a shortstack of 4K goes all in... now i know this guy to be a huge bluffer/donkey type player. The small blind calls and i call (the rest fold). The flop;

7 (hearts), 2 (hearts), 7 (spade)

the small blind and i check

the turn;

A (diamond)

threw some into the sidepot at this point.

the river;

J (clubs)

he checks so i set him all in (another 2k or something) - i now only have like 3-4 k left.

They turn over the cards, the dude who went all in had 2, 7... so won the major pot. The other guy had a 7 K, and beat my twopair with a three of a kind. This is after having a flush draw after the flop and 2pair at the end. This is not all. The very NEXT hand, i got dealt a 2, 7... i thought f**k it, might as well call the big blind. As it goes around the table someone chucks in 5K (i only have 4K left), i thought... whats the chances of it happening twice, i chuck the cards away.

Flop: 2, 2, 7.

Whether you're looking for opinions or you're just venting, I'll offer my 2 cents anyway:

The guy who went all in with 2 7 was correct in his play. With 4BBs left he can't afford to hang around until he loses all his fold equity. The SBs play was pretty terrible with K 7, depending on the position of the short stacker, shoving over the top of him would have been much better, or just flat out folding.

With only 10k left yourself you're far from a position of comfort. You cannot afford to call off for half of your stack with another live player in the pot, again I'd say this is a shove or fold spot. From the sounds of things you wouldn't have had any fold equity with a shove over the SB, but AJs is a strong hand for short stacked situations so I'd have gone with it.

As odd as it sounds I think the 2 7 player played the hand best (though he had the easiest of decisions).

You bet into an empty sidepot with a pair, and the only draw on the table was in your hand.

Silly play.

Yeah I don't think I would have bet the turn either, one pair is not a good enough lock to be betting at an empty sidepot with the possbility of a knocking aplyer out

Completely disagree. Considering how wide the K7 guys range is, and that there's less than a pot sized bet in his stack, AJ with a redraw to the nut flush is an easy value shove. It should have been a shove on the flop really.
