why did you guys let him go? was he not training well? his judiciary record? a combination of the above? or something else i dont know about?

I think he's a good, aggressive young prop who makes some good metres. is it his defence? Just wondering what you guys think of him.

I hear he's talking to the storm and the tigers. u lot heard anything?

I'm pretty disappointed, he is a good young player. He has aggression which is missing from the Manly pack this year. I guess with Kite and Kennedy coming next year, Manly seem to have enough depth in their forwards to warrant his release.

he is a pretty good young forward! very physical and makes plenty hard yards up the guts of the field.

i was a bit surprised to see him go.........not sure if there was something behind the scenes that lead to this! Admittedly i would rather have Kite, Heckenberg, King, Leuluai in the pack.

Hmmmmm, that is a strange decision, I would have let go of another before showing Donnelly the door???? :?:

Yep, i'm mystified, Donnelly has had a few problems with his hands and his mobility in defense, but all in all i see alot of potential, and think it would be a shame to let him go

Bye bye Solo and K.Cleal before Donnely IMO.

Agreed...Manly's recruitment thus far has been an absolute sham. I am not sure what the club is doing, but unless they have a rabbit in the hat (ala Lyon), I think the club will again, be in the cellar next season.

I am extremely disappointed in our recruitment choices:

Delays in Willow and possibly losing Donald, in addition to missing out on Tahu/Monaghan has left me scratching the noggin, although I don't blame Tahu and Monas for not signing...the proposition thus far hasn't exactly been that attractive. Souths/Parra/Warriors have done wonders. We however, haven't.

2005 will be a year of more of the same.

I never rated Donnelly. Was a passenger out there and when he did do something it was giving away penalties, good bye

I rated him in one game i saw last year (the first time i saw him play) when he played for the Dragons against the Panthers he was a good attacking player but since he has joined the Eagles i think his performances have deteriorated alot he is alot softer and it's best for the Eagles to release him they dont need him in their team.

Thought you maybe interested. Ian Donnelly has played the last two matches for North Sydney (as part of the feeder club arrangement with Melbourne) and was one of the top performers in the season opener against Parra on Sat 5/3 giving us 2 points to start the season.

You should not have let him go IMO.

The problem is we have quite a number of props and 2nd rowers... And quite frankly, I think he is solid, but from all reports I think his contract with Manly may have been too much.

I don't rate the Storm forward pack that much, and he can't even make that. Which to be honest is a bit of a surprise.

He was ineffective a lot of the time.

His defence was average.

He didnt penetrate or make great metres.

He was dropped to PL for a reason.

We will not miss him

You can carve up Premier League, but be quite a poor first grade player. He is one of those.

Totally agree.

In PL for us he was one of the better forwards. Come NRL time he was average. Theres no way he would have made the starting 17 this year.
