f you check out the Brian Smith article on page 56 in the list of signings for this year is Ian Henderson.

He is the hooker for the Roosters pl side. He had big wraps on him last year, haven't seen much of him this year but a good signing.

Great player tough no nosense hooker or lock, surprised to see him go to the eels seeing that he will have Morris, Riddell and co in front of him

But i believe that if giving constant game time in first grade and allowed to adjust could be just has good as Cameron Smith as i believe he is a similar type player

seems like the same thing he did with front rowers and second rowers last year, buying enough for two first garde and PL sides for ecah possie???

although Henderson could be good, but he may have to wait behind Riddell, MOrris, PJ and maybe even Hopkins and Webster????

May be an indication that Morris will be used primarily in the halves. Could have implications for Witt as well. This kid is a good player up to first grade standard so time will tell.

It is a good cover for first grade. If Webster and Hopkins leave (as has been rumoured) then we will definitely need some sort of back up. If ,heaven forbid, PJ was to be re-injured and Riddell possibly suspended hooker would be very light on especially if Morris was playing well at 6. Henderson wouldn't be an expensive pick up and he does have some first grade experience.

yeah it probably does mean that Morris is more destined for the halves, which is good in one aspect (among others) in that BS at least plans to have a back up hooker rather than moving Morris into hooker when Piggy is tired and comes off

at leats that will be a positive if he does do that

He is rubbish, gives away a lot of penalties and makes a lot of dumb decisions, there's a reason that L'Estrange and Webb have been given call ups before him this year. But he'll go well for the PL side.

Sorry - but I've got to say that I'm relieved to see that we've FINALLY signed a hooker! Morris will be wearing the 6 next year (as per Smithy's comments) and the Pig only gets through 45 minutes per game - which means we're back to the days of needing that hooker off the bench!

Potentially that'll be Morris with a 5/8 coming off the bench to spell him there (I hope not - consistency in the halves would be good) - but whatever happens we don't really have that backup right now!

I'm with the Colonel - the guy is probably just cover, but we need that right now!

Exactly, we had to strengthen certain areas hooker, halves & centre.

With Webster, Muspratt and Hopkins hopefully all moving on this year and no standouts in JF who did we have as backup to Riddell & Morris. no one. Hooker is a critical position and I for one am glad to see Henderson signed.

What I am particularly glad about with our recruitment for next year is that while players like Morrison, Riddell & Marsh bring a lot of determination and attacking options to the side, they are also good defenders.

But what a bunch of youngsters next year, Backo, Sorenson, Perenara, Davis added to Anderson (who I think is the best of the lot), Green, Cordoba, Afamasaga, Hauraki, Reddy and to a lesser degree Smith, Smith & Mateo.

If im not mistaken,
I believe Ian made his 1st grade debut against us in Round 1,2003 Friday Night Game at The SFS.

Craig Wing was injured or something.

I thought behind Fitzgibbon he was one of the best for the Roosters.
