Exactly what I was going to say - also, I would say obesity affects more people than gambling..... so encouroging our already-overweight population to only get off the couch to get a 'filler combo' seems more irresponsible than giving odds on the game to me... and I'm sure there could be a similar argument over alcohol sponsorship.

I wouldn't blame the commentators, they just read what's put infront of them....

Notice I said that no human interference can happen DURING a race. Horses and trotters can be, and are, interfered with before AND during races.

It's also usually easier to spot which dogs are "running" by looking at the odds. A few hundred on a dog can drop the price quickly as a lot of races have a low win pool compared to horses.

Dogs that have been starved or had a live kill prior to the race won't pay 20/1. Unless the connections only want to win a few hundred.
