Batista elects to fight Triple H, leaving a spot open for someone to face JBL. JBL retains at No way out and since JBL has been through almost every competitor on smackdown, Teddy Long decides that he will face John cena at wrestlemania, since he more than justified himself in the Royal Rumble match.
In the weeks leading up to WM John Cena will fight various members of the cabinet, including a US title match with Orlando Jordon. At the title match John cena is in control for most of the fight, but is screwed over by the cabinet giving Orlando an unclean victory and also meaning that the Cabinet has all the gold, much like evolution did.
Another way it could happen is that on the smackdown after No Way out, Orlando is given a random US title shot and wins it in the said way above. Cena is frustrated about being cheated and complains to Teddy Long. Teddy long says something along the lines of "well since you did so well in the rumble, how about I let you get your revenge on the cabinet by taking on JBL?" and hence cena is given the opportunity to get his payback by taking on JBL for the WWE title, thus setting up a feud with the cabinet before wrestlemania.
This way Cena wont go into his match as the US champ bit will maintain his credibility as a wrestler since he didn't lose the title cleanly.
