I'd go along with that more or less anyway but from that list Prince, Hopkins & O'Dwyer will need to be resigned

Morrison, Riddell and Tahu signed

and Vaealiki released (which I doubt will happen and if he can get back to top form doubt anyone would want it to happen.)

Vaealiki is the kind player that will play well when the whole side is playing well. There isnt much a 3/4 can do when the forwards arnt going forward and the halves arnt creating anything special.

Blake Green will be 16 next year, a tad young don't you think.

I agree pazza.
Before he got injured, I didn't think he wasn't playing too bad, he never really sparked anything major in attack, but was solid and his defence was great.

Vaealiki struck up a wonderful combination with Grothe up until his injury. No coincidence we lost 5 straight after he got injured either. He may not be the flashy try scoring machine type centre but he is a very important cog in the wheel of our backline. His defence is excellent and he makes the guys outside him play better. Matt Petersen was playing his best football last year outside of Dave as well.

I don't think Smith has any intentions of changing our top left side combination (Vaealiki/Grothe) for next year but there could be a major reshuffle on our right side, much of it depends on Lyon's future. Tahu has told Newcastle he wants to play in the centres and is willing to change clubs to do so. It's interesting how both Tahu & Monaghan have both been linked to Manly. Perhaps they have given up on chasing Lyon?

Vaealiki is a solid player, a hell of alot better than Burt and Langi. I recon we will see the Vaealiki of old when the eels get their forwards and halves sorted out.

Vaealiki only deserves ONE more chance.......he's form has been crap since 01, but i must agree that his combination with Grothe at the start of the yr looked very good

Vaealiki is overated and slow for a backline player whos form has been below par for one on his money!

Anyway. he never plays aggressive enough to challege the top centres and plays with no attitude-he plays too nice for an athlete with his body and strength.

Release him asap if i were the coach.
