You sure about that?
i certainly wouldn't play him there, but every coach ever seems to love putting him there.

i'd agree with your call for isaac john. his kicking game in particular on saturday for the vulcans was really solid. he'd be a much better option to take the heat off seymour than anyone else.

what ever

Agree with dr crane. I was at the Vulcans game on Sat as well. Not only was John kicking game good enough to get a recall, but he set up 3 of their tries to grind out a very good win. Not a fan of Hohaia in the halves, he get lost when the going gets hard. Then again, who knows what Ivan will do.Fingers crossed

Moon. Alongside Seymour his running game / long left boot / strong defense will be far more effective than it was with Maloney.
Hohaia showed against the Rabbitohs why he is not a half.
John and Johnson are both recently back from injury? Do they have 80 minutes of NRL in them? Bearing in mind we really don't want any in-game weird halves shuffles involving Hohaia.

Blockbusting wing Manu Vatuvei could be in the frame to play Wests on Friday night which would be a major bonus for the Warriors who have to plug injury holes in other key areas.
Vatuvei missed yesterday's impressive 26-24 win over Souths in Auckland with a lower leg injury.
He watched the team display some real character to get past the Rabbitohs but then had some more company in the casualty ward with Sam Rapira (knee) and James Maloney (hip) join him.
Rugged prop Rapira certainly won't be travelling to Sydney and might not play again this year, such is the damage to a knee.
Five-eighth Maloney is unlikely to be involved against the Tigers. "It's not a serious one in terms of time out but he is sore. He will be doing it tough to play next week but we will see how it goes," coach Ivan Cleary said of Maloney.
Cleary was quietly optimistic about Vatuvei's prospects.
"I hope so," Cleary said when asked if the try machine could play this week.
"He is progressing well at the moment. We travel Thursday so he basically has to be ready Wednesday. It's a day by day thing. It would certainly be nice to have him though."
That's an understatement given the injury problems the Warriors have had to endure all year. Yet they have doggedly stayed in the top eight mix with consecutive wins against the Cowboys and Souths ending a three-match losing streak.
While Joel Moon could slip comfortably alongside key playmaker Brett Seymour in the halves to cover the absence of Maloney, the front row problems are bigger.
Rapira has been the standout forward this year and his injury complicates an area already depleted by Steve Price's absence.
The Warriors are left with a mix of youth and journeymen to cover the middle of the park where they have done so well over the last couple of weekends in Auckland.
Cleary is calling on 20-year-old Russell Packer to step up and believe he has the game and growing maturity to take over the senior propping role in the absence of the two internationals.
"Russell has been really good the last two weeks, easily his best two games of the year," Cleary enthused of Packer's growing form.
"We are going to need those sorts of games from him from here on. He started the game tonight and that should be where he stays. He's going to be even more important for us now.

not hohaia, that's for f**ken sure.

Well, in my eyes he looked like he was playing 6 yesterday and last week. For a fullback, he certainly gets a hold of the ball more than what other fullbacks do. And he kicks more than others too!:x

he kicks way, way too much. he should be the last option (well, maybe ahead of henderson). as for him getting involved on attack, if there was more variation in his running game he'd be a definite top shelf fullback.

nowdays a fullback is basically a 5/8 who can catch bombs as well.

Not saying I agree with them; but there's two options Cleary will run with.

1 Locke
2 Tupou
5 Vatuvei
6 Hohaia
7 Seymour

Or

1 Hohaia
2 Tupou
5 Vatuvei
6 Moon
7 Seymour

I'd prefer the first option. I doubt he'll pull Johnson up yet, he has a fair bit to do IMO. The only downside to Lance's game yesterday was his and Henderson's propensity to kick on the last tackle, I get that you don't want your number one kicker to be targeted for charge downs so you vary the point of kick, but ... it seemed to me that they were over calling Seymour a tad when we could have really relied on a bit of precision to make them defend off a couple of repeat sets.

Do you really think Cleary is considering starting Locke at the back?
