Nice retort. Was the 98 competition called ARL. News Limited controlled the game for the next 20 years so I think they won the war.

Yep & they ditched Perth & Adelaide for suburban Sydney teams with actual fans

wow it only took one year and the crowds had collapsed to 6k

apparently they signed an afl player in an attempt to get publicity but he never made it to first grade

they racked up a debt of ten million after two years !
I always get my facts from wiki lol news ltd took over the club, threw silly SL salaries at everyone and all clubs were carrying huge deficits by end of 1997. News ltd spent over $550million on SL. The salary cap in 1994 was $1.4million!
