Looking into the future if this team does start up, I believe we may Lose Both Tim Smith and Owdyer if they are not signed up to longer deals. They both come off contract next year just in time for the new team. And these 2 boys are from the Gold Coast.

Brian Smith did say he was in negotiations with Tim for an extension but he would need to act quickly before the Gold coast team gets the Go ahead, otherwise we will lose more of our Juniors.

Whats the point in BS negotiating with Tim Smith, he will only play him in premmy league for the next 5 years, then sell him, anyway.

If Gold Coast (or CC) starts up, every team could expect to lose on average one first grade player/talented junior at end of 2005.

15 import players plus 10 locals would make up a 25-man squad for the first year, with other locals from a development squad coming in to cover injury, rep duty etc.

O'Dwyer was given an extension for next season only. I would imagine that if he stays injury-free and shows the form from early this season he will get a longer offer in the not-too-distant future.
