1. Geoff Toovey.
2. Jake Friend.

I'm assuming you know that Geoff Toovey isn't actually an NRL player and didn't play in a competition known as the NRL...

I'm also assuming that you would hire him as a coach to replace Mary.

BUT...if that's the case, why Toovey? I mean, the hypothetical is that you could hire any 'player' (or in this case, coach) that you wish, why not go with a proven multi-grand-final-winner like Bennett or Bellamy? Or one who has got the best out of a formerly struggling team like Hasler, McGuire or Robinson?

Toovey seems like a very, very strange choice and not at all self explanatory...

Can't help but be practical.

Even with the "any NRL player" response, I think Friend would be an excellent acquisition and somehow more achievable than Thurston or Smith.

For what it's worth, Cameron Smith is just about my favourite player. Can do it all.

I would be happy to sign/re-sign some of our promising young players eg:

Carr, Host, Coster, Wallace, Garrick, Dufty, maybe Nona etc.

Signing big names players will only push these guys out.......remember there are a few playing 1st grade for other clubs that we didn't invest in.

speaking of Nona, apparently Mackay Cutters are furious with his manager CHris Shepard over the circumstances of his release.
They released him based on the manager stating Nona had a contract with the Dragons, but have since found out the contract is not with the dragons, but the Illawarra Cutters.

I remember reading that article when it happened and he certainly sounded like he wanted to give the guy an opportunity to play NRL.
