Even though they had a great win, St Helens will do it really tough if it's confirmed that Sean Long, Lee Gilmour and Darren Albert join Sculthorpe on the long term injured list. I think Wilkin may get a ban as well. Can Saints win it if Longy is out for season ? James Roby and James Graham look like future superstars.

What a game v Bradford next week !

If anyone gets a ban from last nights game it should be that dirty b*****d Terry Newton, he put Gilmour in to lala land with a cheap shot coming in third man, then he put Long out with an elbow to the face after the ball had gone that the officials missed, i hope the judiciary pick it up and ban him for 6 months the bloke is just a thug at times. If he does get banned it will leave the GB hookers shirt for Kieron Cunningham who was superb last night lets just hope he stays fit. With the injuries that Saints picked up last night and top spot cliched we could see a reserve side out against the Bulls next week.

Wilkin may get a ban? How so? That surely isn't possible. He was sin binned and never placed on report. I would eat my hat if they managed to pull him for that. Sure he ran in to someone elses fight, but all he did was knock Sculthorpe off Higham.

As mentioned Terry Newton needs to be sorted out. I don't mind players getting overheated, particularly in derby games, but he was like that from the start of the game. He was full of rage and set about the heads of as many St Helens players as his fat frame could get him near. His high shot on Gilmour was premeditated and that alone should have been a red card and a long ban. Jamie Lyon was on Sky telling the ref that Newton would get 10 matches for that in Australia, and he's right.

The attack on Sean Long was just disgusting. I wouldn't mind seeing Long sue him for it. The 'tackle' was very, very late, it was high and it was with the point of the elbow to Long's eye socket. There is a sickening picture knocking about which shows the point of impact. Again, the intention to hurt was quite obvious. For Newton to laugh about and slap Long on the head and say 'Got ya' or whatever is just more sign of the true scum he is.

It made me laugh that as Newton was charging about trying to kill people, having attacked the Saints player who was playing the ball, he left himself out of position and Cunningham scored close in from dummy half, where Newton should have been defending. It didn't bother Newton one bit, the score was irrelevant to him. Good on Millward for taking him off.

I hope the RFL make an example of him and hand out a massive ban. He couldn't complain if he got 20 games or something similar. Long got that for betting on a game he wasn't involved in, Newton tries to kill people and will probably, knowing the RFL and their under the carpet approach to ill discipline, get off with a 2 match ban, or less.

His behaviour spoiled what was otherwise a fantastic full-blooded derby, played in the right spirit.

I don't think they'll give a massive ban, because that would just highlight the quality of the refereeing and the original decision not to send Newton off in the run of play. Rightly or wrongly I Expect the panel to give something like a 4-6 week ban - end his season with a bit of carry over next year.

St Helens will get almost three weeks to rest players assuming the go in light and young against Bradford. I still expect they'll make the GF...
